Hi, Im new to this forum and would just like to compare myself to other members here to see if I am considerd a gambling addict!
I currently go on slots about 5 times a week, spending on average £50 and 4-5 hours per week on fruities, although sometimes I make money and other times I lose more.
So my questions is, How much time and cash per week do you spend on machines?
In the place I go to, its quiet small, only about 15 machines but its quiet busy every time I go in there so Im defo not the only 1 thats hooked on fruits![]()
I couldnt find any info on the web about statistics of us gamers, and Im reluctant to ring up gamecare as I really fancy talking to people about it!
Money well spent tho![]()

you are certainly not an addict! given the time and money you spend..- if you had a few tricks up your sleeve (and some discipline), you could probably win 80% of the time...
the "addict" is the person who plays anything and won't stop i.m.o.. the "player" plays what they know and leaves when the signs are not good.
Well i spend as much time on fruties as I can, if I have £20 I will take a trip to the roullette to try and raise funds to £80+ for a good days gamble.
I will spend all day quite hapilly on my own gambling and having a few drinks, I love it when I make £250+ and then know I have money for 2 days gambling.
So I know I am on the road to being an addict, but because I am a student its the only chance I have of making good money![]()

if i had 20quid only i would try a machine which i could gauge within 1 feature, and sack with no loss [e.g .take turbo cash on an ij3], or push for small profit and repeat `till I have a starter float.
failing that, sharking works
you say u love making 250+ then u have money for gambling? wtf!
keep a 100 float always, and you have 150 for living/fun, and a small float.!
living to work Vs working to live innit.
Very true I mean when I was in Liverpool I could not lose so I just carried on and got to £300 and had thechance to go out to Chester and buy some new Rockports but just carried on and lost the whole lot within a week through beer and gambling![]()

£50 per week could be OK or really bad depending on your financial situation, how much you earn etc.Originally Posted by bosh
About a year ago I was losing quite a lot on the £250jp machines but now I only play £25jp machines that I understand and often find I am up over the week- not by much but up at least.
Today I'm going to go out and play the machines I've got dotted about and probably be up for the day and that is all I will do on them for the week.
Although me and my mate always lob £10 each into the club machines when we play snooker to see if we can get lucky and catch it ready to drop hehe- rarely happens though!
The thing I'm getting worried about is online poker!! It has been going really well on the $0.50/$1 blind sit and go tables- up about $350 and I have hit a bad patch where I am not getting even single pairs or anything and lost the lot. I've lost £300 in a month and it has forced me to uninstall the software! I've found myself sitting there playing it and being bored shitless yet carrying on!! Not anymore though, I'm just gonna stick to playing with mates with a few beers! I know people say it is about skill, but I'd say 70% of the game is luck based, you have got no control on what is gonna come out and unless you have EXTREME patience, you could never be a good player IMO. At least with fruit machines you can pick a machine you want to play and tell whether you are gonna be up or not at the end of it!
Poker is a weird one, you can do everything right and still come out losing, I play on two sites at the moment and since new year on one of them Im about $120 up and the other I'm $1800 up, thats playing the same types of games (staying away from the cash tables) single table tournaments and multitable tournaments, for about the same amount of time, I usually have one table open on each but the difference is huge.Originally Posted by jjh
Good for you mate, that is like a salary since new year!!Originally Posted by trustme
I just haven't got the patience for it be to consistant on the cash tables (by that do you mean sit and go tables?) Might give it another go in the future cos I know where I am going wrong but leaving it for now before I go bust lol!
SAFE! Innit bruv, you get me! Bad shoes you know!Originally Posted by anfield road
you are living proof that god has a sense of humour.
If you can afford to lose £50 a week, fine. If £50 is all you have to last you, or you need it for your rent or something else and you STILL gamble it anyway, then your an addict.
I now play poker exclusively, and make week in week out, but its not a career Id like as it gets to much if you play 6 hours a day every day.
If your an Addict, do what I did. Get rid of your cash card so you don't have easy access to money, thats how I stopped playing years ago......
