My little brother has been allowed to play in the over 18s section in a local arcade, and after stealing his savings book, lost over £1k and practically every penny of life savings he's ever had.
He's only 17.
I know theres nothing I can do to him ,except express my dissapointment to him but I at least want to attempt to get the arcade back.
Are there any special authorities I could report them to, I was speaking to the arcade owner, fishing for infomation and they were thinking of going all over-18 with roulettes and such. I was thinknig if they got busted this time, they would never be allowed to do such a thing, or maybe soemthing like that. Even if my brother was to be paid of (I would put the dosh in an account I know he aint gonna touch til he's 21!)
Anybody know the companies I need to speak to? Or is it just better off going to the police, and would any thing be actually acheived from this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Doubt there would be any way of getting his money back - he shouldn't have been in there in the first place and he played off his own back. You may be able to get the place into trouble if you can prove he was in there though - only thing is if they have CCTV then they can choose not to let the police see it and there's nothing the police can legally do to get it. Perhaps if you filmed him going in though.
i think if his dad walks in with him [or someone 'big' pretending to be parent] he will get his dough back [perhaps by brandishing a creditcard bill full of withdrawals from that very arcade or whatever...]
the threat of losing licence would no doubt be enough to persuade the operator to offer some compo.. since the kid was underage etc.
could just contact the police and sue the arcade (get cctv footage etc)..
would be interested to hear what happens if anything..
Where abouts in Norfolk are you talking about Dunhamzz?
I live in North Norfolk, and will tell you now that if you were to do any of the above suggested in the arcades near me, they would just laugh at you

Unless he went in there and said hey im 17 I doubt they would have. They could just say I thought he was 18
I dont understand why you want to get the arcade back
It sounds like he stole his savings book for one reason onlyMy little brother has been allowed to play in the over 18s section in a local arcade, and after stealing his savings book
Which means he could be anything from 1-11 months away from being the legal age. As said in another post he went in there of his own back he knew what he was doing. It may be different if he was 11-14 and blatenly looks underage and thought they were just gamesHe's only 17
Another thing that springs to mind is he cant have lost 1K in a day. I know it's possible now days on a slotto but to me it sounds like he visited this place more then once. Which again just proves the point he knew what he was doing and why he was going there
Sorry to be harsh mate but I doubt there is much you can do
I agree with the above he choose to spend his savings on gambling, the arcade didn't ask him to enter their premises.
