gambling on your mobile

Anyone wanting their own mobile poker / slots delivery service and web-based back-end?

would you play it if it was live?

I am toying with developing a mobile phone based gambling system - as i am a programmer with some j2me [java microedition] and database experience.

I was wondering if people would really play poker, slots etc on their mobiles.???

I would be happy to share the source code [maybe GPL] or release it as public domain so people can rest assured it is legit... [why don't others do this eh!]

also, maybe somebody would like to add some financial backing and get in on the project?

thoughts? comments ? flames?

I cant see too many people playing for real money. but the idea of bringing gambling onto your mobile will most definetly work!

Good idea Alex, but I think the main problem would be security (I am currently trying to setup a business in the same line) and companies I am trying to sell the solutions to have one issue and one only SECURITY. I'd be interested to talk about your idea further if u wann PM me or meet me on msngr.

It is actually already possible to gamble on your mobile - I can do it on mine (although haven't). I also had a phone call asking me if I want to be able to gamble my credit with a wap based game but i'm on contract so i said no.

The security thing is the main thing im worried about. You can tell with the internet but on mobiles it's difficult/impossible to tell where you're source is.

Hi dave and the rest of y'all..

security is no problem.

1- user registers on mysite.com, creates an account.
2- user tops their acct with credit via paypal.
3- user interacts with server via java / c++ app on their fone.[storing their username and password Locally on fone]
- no credit- piss off/ free play.
- if credit on account
- user spins... they lose = deduction from acct.
- they win = acct balance incremented.

where is the security problem?

I cant be arsed coding this at the moment anyway, but it is trivial at best..

course u can.ebay/paypal make their money - you just have to decide how to play them..

you could have it so you are selling "virtual credits" or "service credits" to access your service (which incidentally costs 10p a go)...

in the TOS or EULA for the [gambling] web-site frontend and backend & game app you explain that you will reimburse users for any virtual credits with REAL money.. and that gets around e-bay nicely...
