Whats the deal with red machines "hidden feature"

When i say hidden features, i mean when you get 3 stars on the winline.

Playing a Paycheck machine a few weeks ago, and got 3 stars on the winline (soz, can't remember the colour), but it gave me knock outs, which gave me paycheck - flat 25)

Since then i've got 3 green stars twice on rocket money, the first time was £4 money belt, the 2nd time was 1 fuckin reel blast for £3!!

My questions are: Are different colour stars worth better prizes than others, was i lucky on getting paycheck, was i unlucky on the other 2??

Never played the machine myself, but I have found on the recent reds its like a streak sort of feature, if mixed - mixed value, if all green - middle value, if red good value, I have actually changed from saying streak to value. Reds these days show happiness when they are dead, ie the random board where you are 1 nudge off 8 quid, most features go red and you may autonudge a quick win for 2 quid and get a red feature, but this is what actually sets it back, if you get a 1 nudge board with cherries for 8 nudges say and most of the features are going red then go for it.
