The Darren 'boring' post has a lot of validity.
The buzz of gambling (at the end of the day this is what we do!) has to have highs and lows to be exciting.
To be down 200 quid at one point in an arcade and leave 35 up say, is far more satisfying to most people than just to walk in, get your 3x7's for 75 on the magic - 7 say, in you first tenner and leave 65 up!!
The fact is (even winning ones) most fruit players have some degree of addiction. A smackhead finds his hit so great because he knows how bad it feels NOT to have smack in his system.
Addicts underneath want to lose, expect the adrenaline of being down and needing to make something back to make it more exciting.
I have had systems and emptiers in the pst that I did routinely for 70-100 per time, and yes it did become less enjoyable, tedious and routine.
Rushmore, I don't think people want to actually lose before they win- I'd rather win straight away and leave up rather than go £200 down then leave up.
I think your point could be put into the context of discipline- as if you win straight away in an arcade, you are probably more likely to put the money back in- but if you go down £200 straight away the claw back money to make a profit, you take the money and run! You've had a scare and now just grateful you still managed to make a profit.
I mean, how many times has a good day ended in a loss because you have won so much you think I might as well give this a go and before you know it, you've lost the lot lol on one stupid machine!
