Started playing a VIU last night, £3 in and it was playing ok...
No change in the till (alledgedly) so £20 inserted into the note changer and it looked fine as the machine paused and looked ready to clock the credits.
Instead the strimmer alarm goes off whilst everyone is having dinner etc and it is loud as fuck...
Went and spoke to the bar staff, they get the manager who thinks I am trying the blag as he pushed his paper clip through the note changer mech to see if the note was jammed...
Left my name and address for the claim, plus a profitable VIU.
My bad for not having back up funds/change with me but it is an inconvenience and pain in the ass what happened.
Anyone else lost out with note changers?
I don't expect my money back at all today.
If it is a decent pub you SHOULD get the money back, I have had notes back from leisure link within 1 hour before. Trust me though, you are lucky you were only £3 into the machine when it happened, i have twive been £40+ deep in SRM's when the note strim has gone off, not funny!!! I NEVER use them now, or if I must I will use another bandit to change the note, playing off the compolsory £2 of credits.
That must be harsh mate.Originally Posted by crazyjimmy
It has happened to me when I put £5 note into Trailblazer a while back, the alarm never went off but the note got stuck- went to the bar and they gave me £5 in coins.
Happened to me once in a wetherspoons. £20 note, left name etc behind bar as they said I would have to wait for engineer to check it out, never seen it again, engineer prob said there was nothing wrong with it and pocketed the cash himself. Ah well, I'd do the same if I was one.

Bar Staff were helpful but the m/c went a couple of days later, I should have called the leisure company and got them to check the meters as 20 extra should be there but never bothered. I also hear ya on the note strim alarm - its too damn loud!

Makes u sick, im glad that has'nt happened to me, honestly, i don't think i could cope with somebody telling me that..i really could'nt..just the general
attidude of these companies, and the way they treat their customers, leaves a lot to be desired..
i had a bit of a let off steam, with some ill mannered macdonalds worker today, i order my big mac meal thingy, check the contents, there's no sauce, salt, vinegar, nothing!? take it back, and im told " it's 5p for sauce"..hmmmm, "ok!, how much is the salt", i ask..lol, her face was a picture..robbing bastar*s..4 quid i spent, iv'e had better service, buying a 49p pastie in a corner shop..
Salt and vinegar at MacDonalds?! Pay for sauce, in my one they are all by the straws- take as many as you want!Originally Posted by alpha bravo
Hmmm, makes u think, im not a regular user of macdonalds, but now you've said that, im sure my local branch, give the sauces for free, last time i was there, which was a while back, this place was a few miles away..thinking of it now, they don't do vinegar anyway do they?? lol
Sorry to stray away from the subject in hand, but further to add notechangers!!, IMHO, wherever a machine is sited, there should be a person, trained up on basic faults, if not, they should'nt have a licence, personally if this happened to me, and they give me some cock and bull story, i would call the police, and trading standards..it's unfair practice.
Stop making me hungry - I'm gonna have to cook now!!!

It is mate, you're right. There should be at least one person who can help you out, cos it is a pain in the arse. You're best bet is to just ask for change at the bar come prepared with a certain amount of coins- even if a note gets stuck and they refund that, what about the other £30 or £40 you have already put in the machine in the first place?Originally Posted by alpha bravo
By the way, your rant about MacDonalds was hilarious![]()
