Default My theory on finding out if a machine is worth forcing

This is probably a load of bollocks, but some one might be able to adapt my theory into something good, who knows! And if they do, PM at least...

Ok, make sure the machine takes notes. Assuming a machine pays out only from the hopper, put 5 £20 notes into the machine- this only uses £2 each go transferred over so you stand to lose £10, which many people would be willing to lose anyway.

My theory is that as the machine will have to pay the coins out from the hopper (the coins from the £20 notes in), then if the notes light is still available, then there must be a considerable amount of money in the hopper as it has to pay out £90 in £1 coins from the change of the notes you put in if you never exchanged. So by putting £100 in (but standing to lose only £10), could it be a better way of telling how much a machine has to offer?

I don't know, but it was just a thought I happened to have, and as long as my knowledge of the technical side of fruit machines is poor, I can only ever speculate and hope fr some help off you guys...

Much simpler method jjh. Stick £15 in the machine in one go. Check if it's backing. If it's backing and decent on the board, carry out the force.
If it's offering shite and backing (refill) take what you can (should get at least £6-10 back on most machines).
If it doesn't back, but it still playing, then decide whether you want to force or not.

Can't see much point in the notechanger way you put there...bit drawn out really and won't get you anywhere. Just because a machine is full, doesn't mean its going to pay out. Best way of seeing is to play a couple of boards mate, the money in the machine can be a red herring sometimes!

I agree wit Matt but backing doesn't mean anything these days. Especially with those variable mechs they drop the first few coins into the cash pot to give the impression of backing

    I also agree with Matt.

The only machines that the former method may work on is Red Gaming where fake backing is in place.

On another note, Matt, did you used to do the Top Dog in bar 18? I seem to remember a Big Cheese just down the road?

Only machines I can remember apart from a VIU down an alley right in the centre. This was last year at the time of Money Laundry (last time I was in York).

    Alright, cheers mate.

I was thinking of it as another way to see how much is in the machine without having to guess whether it is truly backing or not. Although, perhaps using notes takes away the potential win, cos the machine ahs to pay out coins which could have been money you could have won...

The use of notes makes no difference at all!

Using notes will not take away any potential win. If the machine is due to payout, it WILL payout, regardless of the use of notes or coins.

Nope never used to do the top dog mate! Not been in York long enough (since 2003) to know of any big cheeses near me. A lot of the pubs around here change machines quite often. I think it's more the pissheads messing them up so they get sent back to supplier really!

Only money laundrys in York i knew of were in Totes on gillygate and in lendal cellars in the town centre. Pubs down an alley...i know a pub called the hansom cab which is off an alleyway. That what your thinking of?

    Possibly.

Do you know where that bar 18 is?

I thought it was called that but when looking on the pub guide it doesnt seem to exist?

It is red and black from the outside and has the 18 logo similar to a film certificate. As I say, this was only last year when the Top Dog and Big Cheese were there. Both were dead I might add and not backing after £15, unsure of refill days.

Yeah i know Bar 18. It's actually called Certificate 18, so that's probably why you cant find it! It's on Gillygate near the minster.
Trying to remember what's in there at the moment, something tells me its a barcrest multistake (i forget which one though, will have a nose later) but definitely no BC/TD
Found an unchipped BKC just out of York too last week! Hows that for luck!
