Of course there is probably several emulators.. I woud imagine the Barcrest dev kit/SDK would include one but I cant see one of their employees leaking it as it would be too easy to pin it to the person involved.
As for an independant person/group building one? I certainly wouldnt count on it any time soon.. I have heard it would be as complex as making one for the PS2 without the CPU blueprints.. (Do you see a PS2 emulator? no.) Of course things like this are only a matter of time but as MP5 is still pretty much the only game engine used I doubt they will make it easy to emulate. Since Bacrest bought up most the other manufactures I am sure they are guarding it even more tightly than ever before. Of coruse I could be wrong but until I am proven wrong and I see a working MPU5 emulator I will assume I am correct. |

how or why on earth do you not think some monkey has sat and coded his own emulator... or even better a team of highly-motivated monkeys working around the clock..... <couldnt resist..its early!> |

it possibly wouldnt fail to run games but it would fail in exactly mimicking cabinet AWPs and thats what an emulator must do |

So someone on the inside could get an emulator then?
I think ill try and get a job there What about if 10 people bought the fruit machine they wanted to master and sold it on when they had finished with it? That way you could learn the machine without to much expense. btw how much is a brand new fruity?? |

Alex I dont know where you are coming from trying to correct me but I am affraid it is you who are wrong.
There is NO public MP5 emulator and will not be one for a long time. Id imagine Barcrest use an SDK for Visual Studio for development of mpu5 software. There is bound to be a fully working emulator as part of this package but theres no way thats going to end up the hands of the public any time soon.. unless of course one of their employees fancies getting sued and losing their job. Its not as simple as "oh lets fire up VC++ and make an mpu5 emu today lads".. you would need to know the exact locations of registers, opcodes etc and this requires very expensive hardware well out of the reach of homebrew developers. Not to mention the fact the cpu is not the only thing you would need to decompile.. I am sure it has other processing units that would also need to be reverse engineered at a great time and money cost (sound? input interupts? bios?) all certainly not the thing you could do as a little hobby. On the last point.. you would have to somehow manager to get all this done whilst being sent injunctions from Barcrest because I am sure reverse engineering their MPU5 system would violate some laws now.
