So...
As the latest revelations slowly come to an end what are eveyones thoughts.
One point that sticks out clearly for me is:
Barcrest yet again.
With the exception of the Vivid era it seems that 90% of emptiers / manipulators and methods in the past 3 years have been Barcrest.
What is going on? From a company perspective its about time they got a grip. Of course i'm not complaining but find it hard to believe that over and over again its Barcrest who make the mistakes. You dont see Global or BF making many mistakes now do you (although they do use the same software platform on virtually every machine).
I know there are a good few exceptions eg. Monopoly, Rat Pack etc etc but if you created a list of faults for each manufacturer i'm sure Barcrest would be the longest. Granted they do have the biggest share in the market and have the largest production but surely this should mean they will have learnt there lesson.
Another way to look at it:
Barcrest take the risk and create the new games, each new game is tested as much as possible and there is a slight risk that there may be a fault. However, a small tarnish to their name from a fault like is harmless because of their reputation and by producing the new ideas in the first place, sales will not slump.
BSc, MOS, CCA(MPS 4.0), ITIL, ILM, MBCS
do they put the stuff in there on purpose..
like super charged for example, that cant be a code fault????![]()
i personally think its down to piss poor programming. so they have got a good profile thats always gonna be a winner but its the small changes that may mess em up.
i'll programe for you barcrest.. dont know how the hell too lol but i wont get any howlers like the SC thing![]()
I think some of the Barcrest faults, specifically the "button pressing" ones like Thunderbirds & SuperCharged, must be down to bent programmers.... wasn't there a prosecution pending for a Barcrest programmer recently ?
Could do with someone higher up the "chain" to confirm/deny this.
Bellfruit had three machines with the Superhold flaw...intentional?
Didn't their 'Cop The Lot' £250JP's even have that emptier?
Global are 'tight' with programming.
'Jiggin' in the Riggin' is their only m/c I remember having something.
Recent JPM's:
Razmatazz, Crazy Trails, Fantaztec - fuck, that is like every m/c they are producing and it's to do with 'plugging'.
It IS possible that a lot of the faults that have been in barcrests games have been unintentional. Trust me - faults can materialise in some bizarre ways when you are writing a game, and unless you have a good set of testers around you, then you don't always have the backup to find problems. The use of Visual C .NET has helped catch an awful lot of potentially hazardous coding problems, as it bounds checks code as it runs it.... but this is only any good if your autorun is comprehensive. Barcrest may well be fully aware that there games are riddled with flaws - they DO seem to take a reactive rather than proactive stance. Not heard of anyone being prosecuted from barcrest though - bell fruit have in the past prosecuted a programmerOriginally Posted by deejaybee

90% of bugs are barcrest
90% of machines are barcrest
Still a case "pending" the last i heard
