I once went into a local arcade just as it was opening in the morning (11am), and was ready to play Cops n Robbers as soon as they switched it on. Sure enough, the owner switched it on and disappeared into his back office, leaving me free to play the machine.
But, before I could put any cash in, the screen displayed random characters in a way which really looked like a power glitch... you know the type you get with electronic devices when you have the power halfway between on and off.
Then the machine sprang to life and before I could even put a coin in, the jackpot went right up to £10. Trying to remember, I think it actually did a repeat as well so the total went up to £20. I just pressed Collect and walked out of there with 20 £1 coins on my way back to school![]()
This was a few years ago now, but I've just been wondering if what happened was due to some power glitch or if it was simply an emptier, maybe the machine empties itself when first switched on automatically? If so, I feel a bit guilty for basically stealing some of the takings before the guy came back out of his office to collect them! ooer![]()
I very much doubt it empties itself when it is switched on but nice thought.
