Was playing a machine called Cash Adder recently and after i put a pound in a message suddenly appeared on the LCD saying something along the lines of "Coin mec error", now with £17 in the bank and about 7 credits i was feeling a little pissed off, i grabbed the nearest barman and told him the problem, he said "i'll have to switch of the machine and call out an engineer before any money is refunded", so i said fair enough and handed him my details........came back the next day and the machine was on up and running, went to see the manager and asked for my money, he said "the engineer came and the machine stated there was not any money owing out" so after arguing the toss for a few minutes i gave up and left the pub.

About 2 weeks after this i went back into the same pub and thought well lightening can't strike twice, after about 20 minutes playing the same machine with about £12.00 in the bank and credits........WOULD YOU F*CK**G BELIEVE IT....the same error......so once again did exactly the same as above but this time explained to the manager that this has happened to me before and noted what i said, he said an engineer was on his way to another machine so he would ask him to take a look at that one......so i hung on for a little while but no sign of the engineer so i left..........came back in the next day and was told the same story as above......i was that pissed off for words i left without staying anything and vowed never to return again (which i havent).

I was just wondering do you think this is worth chasing up or not, or anybody that has had the same problem as mine what did you do?

P.S (im not usually the one for naming names, but the pubs called "THE SQUARE PEG IN BIRMINGHAM CITY CENTRE).

    Cheers

It's actually gone from the Square Peg now and been replaced with a new Impulse, that looks strangely like a new Extreme, as the top only usually goes for 25. Wetherspoons are shit at giving money back, although was in there last week sometime and a mate got a note stuck in SKR and got the money back.

they are always a pain in the arse, either you lose a few on pay out or else they go in and promptly disappear to some far off land as the credit never appears nor does your pound return. and the barstaff just look bemused when you tell them

That is so unlucky mate, why didn't you make them leave the machine on so the engineer could see the display?

I wouldn't have gone back after the first time, sounds like could be a possible scam?

I think thats a bit harsh on some of he bar staff. (can you see where I work lol !?)

If people say they have lost money in the machine we always give it them out of the till and when the engineer comes we claim it back from them. all they do is leave a slip of paper in there so when it comes to filling up/emptying the machines we know where the difference has gone.

Sounds like the dodgy engineer has had the money for himself.

Most of the time with Strim alarms etc... turning the machine off and on again will reset the machine but let you keep the bank and credits.
