Just curious as to what machine you can see the hopper balance on the alpha using a refill key, i've tried several machines over the months but all i get is volume, last bank etc etc
Heard IJ3 you can... any others?
I'd be very suprised if ANY machine showed the Hopper Balance anymore, the extended functions to show engineer info such as hopper balance etc is turned off via the MPU main board, DIP switch 14 on my machine which is Epoch technology.
Ah i see so its not hard coded its down to the engineer?![]()
Tried my refill key on about 10 or so machines at Manchester Aerport (was bored waiting for my flight!) and none of them gave any info AT ALL, all they did was display "refill" and coin slot thing lit up. Strange... obviously as you say restricted via dip switches
Yea they have made the refill key once again what it was truly designed for.....for refilling machines! It allows you to insert pounds without being credited. This allows the engineer to refill a machine without opening it, ideal for dodgy locations etc.
Ahaaaa i see, cheers all for clearing that up!
It must be down to settings on the machines - In one location (where I know the staff) hopper balances can be obtained on all of the machines including AFU, crazy cobra and JJC.
In my locality, can get hopper balances on all recent Barcrests ie VIU, AFU & also on RED machines. Dont touch bell fruits anyway so dont know about those, and havnt tried it on Mazoomas.
Going back in time a bit regarding Barcrests... after the Psycho Cash Beast, Frenzy, Monty Python, Neptunes Treasure ( which were all keyable) era, they then blocked refill key info on the likes of Big Cheese & clones, Golden Dragon & clones, Cash Attack, SuperCharged, Hot Suff, Hellraiser, Austin Powers, KK & Doshballs.
I always found that on machines that are non-keyable, best to put 15 quid straight in, if it backed during that then fine take it on, but if not then just try to suck back the £15 with small wins.
Wish i had followed my own advice yesterday on a nasty SuperCharged in
the deepest , darkest Black Country
edit> Obviously the effect of note-changers can make it a bit of a lottery when deciding to play or not based on hopper balance - have often seen people get change out of a machine they are not playing in order to carry on feeding an adjacent machine which either hasnt got n/c or n/c light is out.

This link might be helpfull has a chart that tells you which machines the key work its different features on.
@ deejaybee - Refill keys on Mazoomas only display the volume![]()
GAMBLING IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, DONT START!
Deejay that comment on all recent Barcrests made me laugh
VIU is almost 3 years old![]()
