Yesterday I went on my first machine crawl for ages as I finished work at 12.30 and the missus wasn't back till late..oh and it's half term now so I've got a week off work (sorry guys!).
The afternoon started in glorious fashion as I again hit zero twice on the fobt's with tenner stakes so I was up £400 when all accounted for. I know this is dodgy territory but I haven't been stung big time yet and will keep trying until that day inevitabely comes.
First pub I went in for the bank raid but as it was Friday pm and it was a student pub it was heaving so I was forced to play the Top Dog. Haven't played this unit before so expected the worst with the new chip but to my suprise it played very well. First board I had the setup for Golden Hold and it got me there in just 3 presses with two bonuses giving skill stop. Next board was IM with JP repeat off it then dead.
Second pub had Double Dragon which I tend to shy away from because it doesn't force as easily or repeat as much in my experience. Other machines were shite so I decided to give it a go...£78 later it goes full and a pound later I got the top feature for £50 and some poo afters for about a tenner so was happy to escape about £20 down.
Scuttled into the cinema just to prat around on 10p £5 JP Holy Grail and Ready to Rock only to realise they must be at Meridian and I was at Freemans Common...what a twat.
Back on the pub track I hit a Jack and the Beanstreak next for textbook £50 in £50 out with the barman watching like a hawk..he obviously plays but was quite friendly as they go and was just curious about the force method.
Getting a bit bleary eyed by now...all those halves and starting to stink of fags so I made a last stop on route to play VIU which blocked the feature for ever (see my other recent post) so was up for calling it a day after that...although did play an interesting version of blackjack on the quiz machine which involves card memorisation and answering true/false questions...could be worth a strategy with mates that one..got £3 out myself but could have been a lot more with experience.
Got home checked email...Ladbrokes offering £30 worth of chips for their casino if you match the bet so I went for it and made £150 off the roulette there, nice.

Yeah the £5 ones are all down meridian in the bowling place.

Were you the guy playing in the pub next to the odeon cinema at freemans common?

I was with a very drunk mate who was in a florescent coat.
Why has it come to this?

Had you just done the Double Dragon? I'll piss myself if it was you.

Any gamblers finding themselves drinking more and more? Personally I have a pint per pub, so if it's a long round I usually end up hammered thus it's a total waste of time

I tell you, turn into an alcholic at this rate

ps. off on a pub crawl in a bit...

I tend to stick to the cokes or orange and water where possible. Not a fan of drinking on my own, it adds to the cost buying pints and mistakes from loss of concentration can be annoying and costly.

However depending on the location i may find it necessary to buy a lager or shandy to keep the landlord happy, although if im feeling a bit cheeky i will sometimes opt for a soda water (free).

Yep there are definately some pubs where you look out of place buying half a pint of an alcaholic beverage, never mind pop !!!

Always a pint or bottle in each pub for me! Although this helps keep the staff sweet, nearly always end up f**ed and doing something stupid (on the machines)!

Well i ended up hammered but with a tidy loss, so business as usual, though I did hit Bedazzled after £4

First play of a Jolly Roger as well, quite nice, extra lives every board and offered me £15 in gold pot on first board, decided to force and ran out of change so took a few mid wins, poor show really

How you have the discipline to drink halves of coke or even soda water is beyond me, landlords must be absolute mugs as well to let you get away with it!

Dont they make loads more profit on soft drinks anyway ?

A typical pub chain such as Arena will charge you more for a diet coke than for half of lager/cider.
