It is sometimes possible to work out methods on 'playable' machines, but you usually need lots of previous experience and a good understanding of the way they work to percentage.
Take older JPMs,Impulses and Barcrests for instance.Simply by playing a few £100s through these and paying careful attention to what was going on,you could work out some very profitable methods without the aid of any 'secret/inside' info.Sadly such machines are not made today.
Some methods & emptiers are of a kind that you could never work out, even after putting £1000s through the machines in question. In these cases you have to know a 'trick' that has nothing to do with logic and a lot to do with [deliberate?]programming errors(eg, the 20p trick on HiLowatha,Superhold on various Bellfruits, hidden pots on Vivids etc and button combos on some Barcrests).
My main point(one I make a lot)is that the basic design of AWPs has altered since the £25 JP csame in.Playability(the kind that gives 'player advantage') has been designed out,so 'tricks' are all there is(and if you haven't got the latest tricks, there's not much point in playing anything).
Whoops...something seems to be wrong with the board...I tried to edit out a typo and instead it resubmitted the message(and I seem unable to edit them). It gave a message about a 'debug error'.
This board also sometimes forces you to renter your password for every reply.
Totally agree - Discipline & Locations.... that should be permanently embedded in your brain if you want to make this game pay.Originally Posted by a1056688
Also trying to stay one step ahead of the competition, a few weeks ago i (luckily) walked into a pub just as someone was streaking a Cash Attack that had been a good earner for me over several weeks.... now i knew the day he hit it, i simply went on the same day next week.. but got there for 10.30 when it opened, and a nice cheap 75 roll. Was tempted to stick around till the competition arrived, but as Captain Cliche always says "time is money" and i had a busy day ahead.
I still hold my hand up to occasional lapses & playing crap stuff out of boredom/curiosity, but i am gradually eliminating this.

I agree that discipline is essential, but even with this and good locations you still won't get anywhere unless the manus are making good machines, and at the moment, they patently aren't making them.
With no decent machines around locations count for nothing, but you still need discipline to *stop* yourself playing when know it isn't worth it.
Depends on your definition of a good machine...
As manufacturers go, a good machine will be the one that takes the most money, as this will ultimately lead to more machine sales. As it is, your casual punter will love the current BFM profile of possible quick profit while collecting on Q marks, thus giving a virtually definite return of some kind, with the possibility of a streak or jackpot repeater that it is nigh on worthless to force for, thus giving the casual punter (munter?!?) a chance to get it. However, machines with supposed 'methods' such as Vivids that didn't actually fuck up the percentage payout must have enjoyed a surge in profits as every Tom, Dick & Harry tried the method on every machine in their area.
Anyway my point is that surely a machine like BFM's Monopoly + clones (without the note changer trick lol) class as better machines as they will ultimately prove more profitable for the operaters???
