Its been quite a while since i have been on here posting, how are all you junkies doing in the big bad world? Hope your luck has been good. Is there anything new I should know about?
ANYWAY to the question, recently on Ebay I saw some barrwel keys being sold and the bloke claimed that they fit most machines and empted them. naturaly i didn't believe it as why would he sell them and why would the companies allow this flaw. does anyone know if it is actually possible? or has anyone got a set of these keys?
Thanks
its very dodgy
basically, when using a refill key,its frowned upon by most but not actually illegal.when you use one of the barrel keys(there are 2 on each genesis cabinet),theres 1 for the front to access the cash box(which needs another key to access, the hopper dump button is behind this as well)and 1 to open up the main part of the machine, for testing, changing bulbs etc.if you open the machine cabinet using a key youre basically breaking the integrity of the cabinet, which is highly illegal.i guess its your choice!!!
I guessed it was illegal but why would the machine companies allow this flaw in their machine's security? Surely the locks would require a different key on each machine?
They have been sold now anyway, but could always look for some more, i'm sure I could resell them for a LOT once some clueless youth sees what they can do.
Thanks anyway Gil.
Its like the keys the techs carry where they can just whip open any machine without getting keys of the shop owner... eg Leisure Link guys..
I would not be surprised if there were a few people emptying machines this way. Machines dont bank wins in engineering/test whatever mode do they? (Where you can slow down gambles, nudge/hold any real etc)
Why has it come to this?
I suppose you could blag a pub that your an engineer, empty the hopper and run.
i have a set of barrel keys. i found them on the floor next to a machine, presumably the engineer must have dropped them, or someone was gonna use them, got collared and legged it. i pocketed them w/out thinking really. i haven't used them yet, but did have a vague plan of finding a country pub where the machine is out of site and using them for a hopper dump. would this be illegal? its not like rodding and i have never heard of anyone trying it. any opinions?![]()
you are living proof that god has a sense of humour.
A bit more than illegal me thinks. You are comprimising the machines security and STEALING the money from inside.
I suggest being very careful, or striking a deal with the pub owner.
If you are interested in getting rid of them I would be happy to take them off of your handslol
