You know the kind of day....you start playing and the first machine takes the piss..all other machines play distinctly out of character and any streak you do get costs a fortune and goes for the absolute minimum. So why oh why did I decide to play the Lord of the Rings Two Towers on the back of such a crap day?? I had only about £45 in coins but I thought it should just about see me through for the first red JP and then hope and pray. NO no no...it takes about £20 before everything goes dark and it resets. Bad enough...but I test the water to check the ram hasn't been fucked up and sure enough next board the cash ladder is at the £8 mark where I left it last feature. So I plough on...now the machine has got the bit between it's teeth and decides to start resetting every £3 or £4 which gets really fucking annoying when you have to wait 60 seconds for a the reset to take place. To cap it all eventually the £45 goes in and hey ho not a sniff of my JP yet. I go to the bar and change a £10 which I hate doing...very amateurish in my view and promptly play that through not to mention 3 more resets. I'm getting to the pushing the machine through the wall point when I put the next £23 quid through before it drops the JP finally. With trepidation I insert the next quid in (sadly no repeat) and hope and pray....the machine goes stone cold....belly up....the gameplay resembles a desert scene with tumbleweed rolling across the vista. I get a feature at last...no flash...no IM infact THE FUCKING WANKER FINALLY CROAKS WITH A FINAL RESET WHICH NEVER COMES BACK. I have £25 in bank and a sodding claim form to fill in whilst the bar lady eyes me with suspicion mentally accusing me of breaking her machine never mind the fact it's had £78 of my hard earned. Take my advice..never play on the back of a crap day. It'll only go from bad to worse.

I've had too many of those sort of days with those sort of machines.
Even if you end up making a profit at the end of the week...is it worth it?

I'm coming round to the view that NO,it isn't.

I say this after having played profitably for 10+ years(sometimes *very* profitably,it must be said).

There's always going to be an element of swings and roundabouts with gambling on fruit machine(no matter how many methods or emptiers you have-hoper jams, power cuts etc *will* still happen),but latterly the swings seem to be taking over...and will it get any better?
    I doubt it...

Yep. I think any honest gambler will admit to havinmg one of those. Just seems the worlds against you. EVERY machines is playing like a tit and you end up putting money in machines you wouldnt normally go on in a vein attempt to claw some of your money back... failing miserablly. Whats more is that the machines you dont go on noirmally are the ones that suck £10 per board (fruits u sir...) And they still suck £10 per board, smacking you when your down!

Then to top it off, you finally find a machine that you know is proftibale, that streaks nicely and is generally a good boy. However, not this time buddy. No streaks and bastard gameplay, even tho it was backingfrom first pound. GRRRR.. i hate those days.

I'm sure you're joking[I hope... ] 'cos thinking about winning, visualising jackpots etc,is in my opinion, the sign of being an addict.
This is especially true with machines that are only profitable depending on when you carch them(eg,streakable rather than emptiable)
And I don't care how skillful the player is,how much knowledge they have, when you get a run of bad luck it definitely brings out the addict within.
All of us regular and long-term players have that little addict inside somewhere..the trick is not to encourage him.

The only way you can gamble successfully is to have a totally realistic awareness of the odds-being aware that the majority of the time the odds are *against* you is a good start.
The trouble with fruit machines is that it's all too easy to think you're in control of the odds, even when you are manifestly fighting a losing battle.
I clearly remember back in the days when I was addicted I would always be concentrating on getting the JP or streak at *any* cost;when that happens you aren't being rational.

Discipline is so important, sometimes on a shit day I will find myself losing about £3 per machine I play but you only need one to do a JP from nowhere and you break even.
If you just visualise a JP on something you shouldn't you just take irrational risks and chase, very rarely happens to me nowdays as I nip it in the bud early by not losing sight of the value of the money I put in.
