I was pulled into the local Noble's arcade by my mum when I was still pushing Tonka's around the carpet...a regular visit each week and as I grew older the Tonka got dropped and the flashing lights became more interesting. My mum would win a JP and I'd get bunged a quids worth of tokens to do my bollocks with..funny how the underage were allowed tom play in Noble's then if you were with an adult...one thing led to another and hey..here we are...I blame it all on my mother.
well mine comes from going to skeggy when i was younger with my folks. we were on this caravan site that was miles away from anywhere and while my mum was at the garden centre, dad was on the golf course and me and my sisters were left to either a) play on the park b) play in the 'arcade'. I say arcade cos all it consisted of was a Streetfighter 1 machine, a Double Dragon Machine, 2 x 2p play fruit machines and a knackered pool table that gave out free games. As you can imagine i'm a pretty good pool player now but i love to feed in those coins!!!![]()
I remember playing a 5p machine way back in 1980. Can't remember much but I got two 50p wins in a row. To me it felt like a lot then as it meant I could have 9 extra games of Galaxian! Then a year later I played a 1p(!) a go machine with a 10p JP(!!). Got a 10p win which held. Yay, another game of Galaxian and a packet of Polo mints. What more could a 10 year old want? I never played FMs for another 13 years after that though and went to arcades mainly to play the video games.
Don't say 'si'. Say 'oui'.
POLO!
smoke me a kipper, i'll be back for breakfast
Is it meant to be spelt "POLO"? Sorree! At least I got "Galaxian" right. I should know, the place my mother worked had one for 3 years. Addictive at the time but I didn't know any better.Originally Posted by big_bad_dan
