JPM Machines...

Recently I have seen JPM's Golden Goal in my area. Before this JPMs seemed to be almost non-existant in my area, apart from the very odd "It's Showtime". My view was that the only recent machines any good from JPM was Red Arrow & Vegas Strip, so I have given anything else a miss.

Anyway, often I still tend to check out machines on my "no go" lists (even QPSs) when I have a signficant profit. I guess my take is that if I don't, I'll miss something important one day,

So off I go playing Golden Goal with my rather large £300 float. I carefully recycled £75 through the machine (and it was backing within £5), no JP, and only once did it offer me a decent cash pot (£14) win after landing on an opened up "shoot out" segment on the board. I think I ended up with just about £25 after this first attempt. This was bad - not even QPS machine bugger you this much. I was going to list some of the features out but they are all similar to Colosium (inc. the hold reel trick on the first feature) - there are some variants at the top of the stack, which use the "shoot out" area - but you'll hardly ever get there.

So now we try a different method - we force the machine. And still it is dead as a dodo. Sometimes you think it is warming up when it offers you a fiver off nudges. Then it goes dead for another £20. WHAT IS GOING ON THERE.
Then you get a full bonus off the trail (Golden with Extra Life and extra ball) AND THE FIRST TWO GOs TAKE BOTH THE EXTRA LIFE AND THE BALL. Then it kills me and all it offered me was £2 - this happened twice.
Oh yes, then suddenly it spins in no win and numbers on the win line, and the last reel just happens to be a JP, so it says "hold the 3rd reel" on the alpha for an easy JP - COME ON JPM, THIS DOES NOT MAKE FOR A GOOD MACHINE - ALL YOUR ACE CHOBBIES MADE THEIR OLD MACHINES DO THIS!!!!!!

Eventually I went back to recycling to get some money back - but after £150 through the machine, I only had about £60 of it left.

I think the machine is terrible, especially for killing you on good number gambles, which also often happens when you are gambling a cash win to exchange.
No wonder I don't see any JPM machines around like I used to. They must have a developer resource problem. It's just bad coding - I can't see even normal punters bothering with their machines.

The machines are refilled/banked on Tues at this particular site BTW.

Anyone else feel the same way about JPM, or have I missed out on some thing obvious?

My point is that there are some machines that I avoid because you can't necessarily play for good profit but I still think are good machines. Machines that fall into this category is Mazooma's High N Mighty. If you think about it, it is a sensibly designed machine. The top feature or an IM is __slightly__ forcable, the machine is nice on number gambles on the bonus square and it is quite fun to play. That's a good machine in my opinion. Mazooma's new one (Big Blaster ) is like this too and Fast'N'Furious isn't too bad although it behaves fairly similarly to Bank Roll.
JPM's these days, well yes, umm... say no more. Cracker was even worse than Golden Goal, and I missed the emptier on it too.

What I am saying is that I can see that Mazooma have well thought through the logic of the machine examples I've just given. With JPM I am mistified.

I haven't played a new JPM for ages but if what you said is anything to go by I'm not surprised. Sadly, it's not just them that screw on good numbers. Most recent Maygay machines are happy to kill on good numbers even when it can EASILY afford to give the win you were gambling for. Probably bad (or lazy?) coding as you say. Seems that losing on hi-lo gambles so easily appears to be a problem with MANY machines in recent years.

There's not much you can do apart from not play the machine but there'll still be the addicts who are drawn in by the glass graphics/bright lights/brill music. As long as AWP companies get their profits they'll keep treating us non-addicts like s**t.

Hmm..Cracker,before the £25 upgrade,was actually the last really 'good' machine that JPM made,but even so,they had already started to alter the code and Cracker was significantly worse than Arcadia,even before any rechips.

I agree about golden goal-pretty awful for a JPM(but still better than most Mazoomas,IMO ).With GG and other similar JPMs you have to accept that the £5 block is more or less permanent-try to force,either wins or features,and you'll regret it,except of course,when it's ready to dump.
Best you can realistically expect is a quick, modest profit-whenever you get involved you almost always lose.
Since Arcadia JPM have done their best to ensure that there are no regular JP features-and as this was the main reason for playing them, they're best avoided altogether really.[/quote]

Just going back to Mazooma's, yes they're not that great for machine profit unless you catch one on a dump. The ones I mention above are OK'ish machines, and some of there others behave very much like Bell Fruit machine, e.g. Count Yer Cash, Cash Explosion, etc.
I guess that my point was at least I can see why Mazooma designed the logic of their machines that way - with JPM is just seems crazy. I actually do hear normal punters groan and moan when they are on the GG machine.

Maygay machines seem OK on numbers - which one were you talking about - JTT, Cor Str, Bank Raid, Ice B ?

I have rambled on about this elsewhere-even on JPM's own forums(as if they'd take any notice).

I agree,if you play GG or Coliseum cash or similar JPMs hoping to see a 'streak' or JP or even a few decent sized wins you can quickly lose a lot of cash.
I know - it happened to me the first time I played a ColiseumCash-I more or less knew what to expect but the code on this was a lot worse than even Super Breakout..talk about tight.I lost about £120 in the first two sessions on these,because I did what I normally do on JPMs-roatate whilst looking for JP set-ups.Unfortunately the JPs just do not come on these new-style JPMs until they decide to give them-which isn't very often!
If I play one now(rarely) I assume from the start that it *won't* let me get a win over a fiver.
You can actually play quite a long time on these rotating wins in the £3-£5 range before the % kicks in and you really you start losing.
The problem is,most people do not play for 'amusement'(something JPM seems to have forgotten)and want a realistic chance of winning something.The fact that you can sometimes make a tenner last an hour on one means that they are paying out well over %-it just doesn't feel like it!
Add to this the anti-force code;anyone who gets bored recycling and starts forcing can lose very rapidly and the machine appears to get no happier..!
I think this proves that JPM have really lost the plot.

As for Cracker..you had to be prepared to rotate these a lot more than on many previous JPMs-the anti-force programming was well in place from the start.Depending where you caught them in the cycle you could walk away with anything between £10 and £100 profit on a "non-dead" machine(profits of £80+ indicate it was dumping).
By the time they had rechipped these(and that was before the £25 upgrade)the 'anti-force' aspect had got to be ridiculous..I personally lost £50+ a few time on 'live' machines where the £5 bar just would not lift..for 2/3/4 hours(aagghhr!).Eventually the % balances and after so much rotation you just can't win.You could try forcing..and end up losing the same amount or more but a lot more quickly(minus the 'amusement'!)
I heard horror stories of other players losing £200+ into chipped Crackers and Showtimes...JPM have been going rapidly downhill ever since.

The Italian Job 2. It can take heaps of dosh (£50+) then if you get nudges/superhold for a win as little as £3 it can ruthlessly stiff you even on a 2 or 11 which I think is very poor. At least their older machines like Homers Meltdown, Simpsons etc. were far more forgiving.

i loved homers meltdown and italian job but the italian job must be fixed to rip off everyone. at least with homers meltdown you had a half decent chance of breaking even maybe even getting a couple of quid more. JPM have not made a good playable machine for a while and i wonder if they should just sell up and start being a credit card company because with them you can never break even!!!!

Are JPM still making AWP's? I thought they had moved into different areas.
