Hello and happy new year to you all. After reading with interest some of the latest posts on here, I wonder if some of you players are any good at APPLYING knowledge, or do you always wait for methods for each individual machine? Is like seeing people get the PF method, and then ask what the GG one is!! It is always obvious to me which machines are clones of others (deciding the original on the one i saw first), and therefore what method will work on which GROUP of machines, not just the one that it was written for. Take SRNR (unchipped). LOTR was obviously the same machine, yet some people didnt try the emptier on the second! I am not saying for a minute that I have worked all these methods etc etc on my own, I have had help from many corners, and have myself given help out, but once I have a method or emptier for a paticular machine, I try it on all clones and even half clones, whether the feature name/position etc etc is different. E.g SS, GG and PF are all the same apart from a few programming tweaks, with SS being the most different of the tweaks yet the method remains the same for all. What i want to know from all this is do people even TRY any more or do they rely on the pros to give them a rule set in stone first? I often see people berate the loss of playability of machines in general, yet they try nothing except the cast rules as seen! You might as well play the astras or bar X (or should that be o? lol) Anyway what are your thoughts? Do PLAYERS not do as much today? Have they become lazy? Do we rely on methods from others without trying our own? (I admit to that recently) Gimmie some thoughts novice and pro alike!!!
I always used to put a few hundred through every new 'interesting' machine, trying out known methods and experimenting with new ones.
Times when I've made a £1000+ a week it's not from things I heard on the net....
This year, with Bell Fruits,Mazoomas and flat profile Crests and QPS's and,of course, rigged JPMs dominating it's been far more risky-mainly because the main intention of a lot companies this year has been to defeat pro players.
Too risky,to be honest.
How many people would even *think* about playing BFGs if they hadn't heard about the 'tricks'?
wouldn't touch them! i think the nation as a whole has become lazy, in answer to the question, peoples mentality is why spend time trying things out when you can buy the answer straight awaytheres also alot more players out there now and in some areas to get a jump on the competition you have to get methods etc faster than anyone else, whats everyone think

I'm most probably a novice compared to most on these forums, having only played fruties for 2-3 years. However when Slotterman says he used to put a few hundred quid through a machine to try stuff, some people just dont have that kind of money, i.e me! I read these forums in order to try and get a slight edge over your average joe in a pub. I think ppl that are in the know with regards to latest emptiers e.t.c will always be a couple of steps ahead. They have contacts and ppl who invest money in order to find new things out, such as buying second hand fruties.
Also with the jump from £15 to £25, you've more chance of losing big on machines if your not careful. I would be content with simple playing guides or simple tips such as whether to force a machine or not, although i know others take it a bit more seriously.
With regards to others taking gambling more seriously, im yet to make a consistent profit of gamblers, whereas some of you others obviously do make consistent profit, which is why you take it more seriously, which is fair enough. i would love to be in the know of latest emptiers and have money to try new things but i dont, so i must rely on you more experienced punters to feed me your scraps!
Sorry for waffling

The thing is,supernanman,it took me several years of playing carefully when things were generally a lot easier to save up the kind of money where I could 'invest' 100's in trying new stuff and not be phased if I 'lost' say,£500 or so in the attempt, because I *knew* there were plenty of reliable machines to fall back on.No more.I can't afford to do that on the sort of machines around at the moment.
Most players are now in the position of 'banking' on the next 'big thing'.If the next big thing doesn't come along...well they're stuffed, basically.
This is where the real 'gamble' has always been for the pro player: trying to find a method or trick by investing/gambling heavily on new machines, acting on tips and rumours or sometimes paying someone for hard info. Then you can recoup and make a good profit by touring around before they all get chipped or everyone else starts doing them.
Buying new machines isn't really feasible for most people.Unless you have something concrete to go on in the first place emptiers can be extremely hard to work out.You really need to be in the industry to experiment with brand new machines(arcade owner/supplier/designer/coder etc).
Unfortunately most things get onto the net quickly these days, chips are out before you know it and anything easy(eg,Vivids) brings 100's of new players out of the woodwork.
Worse still is the fact that the manufactures have really started to react to the pro-player phenomenon.
When it was only a handful of players making money from machines they could afford to almost ignore it.
Now that it's become an almost mass 'pastime' they have altered the profiles to the point where new machines are by and large 'unplayable'.
Not only can't they be simply forced but they have features rigged to prevent advanced players gaining an advantage.
I must be honest,I can't get much enthusiasm waiting on the likes of BFG or Vivid to make another cock-up before I can even think about playing one of their machines again.
I know it's not what new players want to hear, but unless the FM industry comes up with something totally new,I really think the days of easy money are well and truly over.![]()
You say 'pay ppl for hard information' , where do you find these players offering up to date emptiers and what sort of money are they asking? This is what i mean, somebody who plays regularly has good contacts.
Ive only seen 1 pro player (who i defiently know is a pro) in action. he only plays in the local arcade that i know of, but he must make at least £150 + a day. thing is, he knows ppl who work at the acade, and they know he wins alot of money, but they just turn a blind eye, yet if i stroll in and make a quick £30 then i get bloody interigated. Whats that all about! I have subsequently stopped visiting my local arcade and stick to playing in the pubs.
