Where to go?
What to do?
Any sites?
Magazines?
etc etc
Google can tell you the names, addresses and telephone numbers of casinos in your area. Normally they’ll have a website with more information but most of the time you’ll have to phone and ask.Originally Posted by Version1
Things you might want to know:Things to bare in mind:
- Do you have a card room?
- Do you hold poker tournaments?
- What poker variant is played?
- How much is the buy-in and re-buys?
- What time do they start?
- Are they self dealt?
- You must be a member to play in a casino.
- Membership is almost always free and comes with a 24 hour cool off.
- Normally a single member can sign in 2 – 3 guest (I think this depends on the casino).
- Dress code varies but smart casual is safest.

- On starting you will be given a playing card and a table number. The card will match one in front of a seat.
- If you’re playing in a re-buy game and you get knocked out before the “freeze out” you can shout “Chips!”. A staff member will give you a re-buy stack which normally cost the same as your original buy-in for the same amount of chips.
- The deal changes each time, rotating clockwise around the table.
- Three people are involved in each deal.
- The player on the left shuffles.
- The player on the right cuts the deck.
- The player in the middle deals.
- Some times a plastic disk is used. This goes on the bottom of the deck to avoid bottom dealing and obscuring the bottom card in case the dealer lifts the deck too high.

IMHO they're not worth it since there’s so much content for free on the web. However there are a lot of good books.Originally Posted by Version1
If you are looking to play online at all I would suggest pokerroom and partypoker. I use them both and enjoy both.

having a home tourney can be a good time, but it's alot of work, set up a rules sheet and stick to them... consolidate tables when necessary, use a timer and have fun.Originally Posted by Version1
