Sick river then. It sort of supports Woody's point as well that he bluffed the turn and didn't bluff the river, but in my experience people who bluff the turn will bluff the river a large proportion of the time. I think in this instance if he misses the 5 he checks the river cos he does have a hand that beats a beaten flush/straight draw etc. But if he'd had a missed draw himself he probably bets the river 80% of the time.

I really have no idea if he would have fired if he didn't spike the 5. I think what gorva was getting at is that if im calling the turn believing most of the villain's range is flush draw/pair combinations trying to find a fold from my under-repped hand then its correct to call all blank rivers but you understood that lol. I agree that villains are often giving up once we call the turn c/r. When someone takes this weird a line then im kinda inclined to believe they are bluffing, i mean is he playing K10 this way on a 3flush board? Why didn't he lead the turn when i felt it was clear i checked back the flop for pot control, intending on calling most turns and betting if checked to. Hes repping such a small range (flushes and weird slow played sets) that calling is a lot clearer once we've checked back the flop.

    This hand sucked.

On the river i doubt he's bluffing enough (considering this is now for value much more often as when he is bluffing the turn he is checking the river some %, which he isn't when he is value raising) for calling to be profitable and we are getting much worse odds.

There are players where you can apply the call turn = call river thing, but I think we need a read for that. We don't have one here.
Agree that most 'if you call turn, you must call river' arguments are sketchy, but I think he's probably following through on his semibluffs/air on the river, since our range looks pretty weak and the river can't have improved us. So I think it applies here.
There's a right way to do everything, and everything must be done in the right way.
