    Default I'm think I'm learning.. or am I just weak/passive ?

A couple of hands that I feel were significant in last nights play.. Although I still not winning I'm not losing and more importantly I feel I starting to read the game and definitely feel more comfortable.

    0.05/0.10

    Button WINNOR4FU ($16.35)
    SB TheRedImp ($6.67)
    BB Hero ($17.0
    UTG VelMish ($6.8
    UTG+1 TOLBUHIN ($20.11)
    CO TheCirc ($10.17)

Preflop: Hero is in the BB with As Ad
1 fold, TOLBUHIN raises to 0.35, 3 folds, Hero raises to 1.10, TOLBUHIN calls 0.75.

    Flop (2.25) 2h 7h 9s
Hero bets 1.80, TOLBUHIN raises 3.80, Hero folds

?? Firstly the villain has stats over 350 hands of 12/11/2.. he never chases anything and plays TPTK type hands for Small pots.

So my thinking was that I can't call because he's sure to bet the turn and river and we both deep so its sure to turn into a big hand... and the depth of stack puts me off re raising. I think he has trips so fold.

and yep.. he shows me his two 7's

Point.. a week ago I would have re raised in the hope he had an over pair... there was just something I sensed about it.. maybe a timing tell. Its funny but I've been thinking about my tournament game.. I seem to rely a lot more on my instinct in them.. and decided to go with my gut instinct this time rather than just probabilities.

    --------------------------------------------------

    0.05/0.10

    Button collumbig ($7.92)
    SB acingeagle ($9.70)
    BB Hero ($10)
    UTG knowledgephobia ($9.95)
    UTG+1 StRaTeG13 ($10.65)

Preflop: Hero is in the BB with 5d 9h
2 folds, collumbig calls 0.10, 1 fold, Hero checks.

    Flop (0.25) As 9d 9s
Hero bets 0.25, collumbig calls 0.25.

    Turn (0.75) 3d
Hero bets 0.75, collumbig raises to 1.50, Hero calls 0.75.

    River (3.75) 6h
Hero bets 0.93, collumbig raises to 2.50, Hero calls 1.57

    collumbig shows Ts 9c
    Hero shows 5d 9h

collumbig wins 8.75 with Three of a kind, Nines

My thinking here was that the villain was playing pretty tight.. he wasn't playing weak aces.. and he does just calls preflop.. with a good ace he'd have raised.. ??... so I put him on a speculative hand like connectors... I decide on the flop to see the hand out but try to keep the pot as small as possible. My river bet was deliberately small as I expected the re raise which I'd then call.

Point.. OK I lose but think a week ago I'd have lost my stack.

    Comments appreciated.

    Regards
    Salt

hmmmm i think the first fold is pretty sick close. Is a 12/11 flatting your 3-bet with 1010-KK, AhKh and then raising your flop bet? I would say yeah obv and therefore im shipping that flop for value. Hand 2-Im probably just betting each street for value and then just calling when he raises so nh wp etc etc.

I'd probably flat the flop raise in hand 1. Don't necessarily want to play for stacks here vs a nit 170BB deep, but I'm not folding AA in a 3-bet pot to a minraise.

Hand 2, I think you have to call the river after your weak-looking river bet. If you make a more normal sized bet, this might be a bet/fold, I'm not sure.
There's a right way to do everything, and everything must be done in the right way.

I'm all in on hand 1.
Hand 2, i'm prolly check-calling instead of betting out, especially when he is aggressive post-flop. If he is passive, it's a bet-fold.
