Default playing the opposite of the table

i know that if everyone on the table is playing loose you should play tighter, but if you know that players are going all in or raising with say a 8, should you call in position with say a10? or wait for better cards?

In these situations (which used to happen a lot in the 20e 30e and 50e freerolls) I would always want AK AQ or a pocket pair. If the blinds are pretty big and people are just literally shoving for stacks then I guess you may be compelled to call with less than normal but if you still have 15BB or more then Id be inclined to wait for AK, AQ, or 77+. Even playing like that theres a chance youre gonna go in with 20% to win the hand but I think its +EV in the long run or at least it was for me!

For me it would depend on how many players are in the tournament and what your chip stack was. For example early doors in an MTT then I'd sit tight.

Overall though, if you truly can't "play" them off a pot (cos they will call with anything) then I think it's better to wait for the cards to do the talking rather than getting involved in a side game of bingo.

I tend to find this sort of insane play very early in tournaments at micro-stakes. Once people have invested time in the tournament I see it happening less, and people are shoving with the sort of range Tyler mentioned rather than just anything.
