I'd be interested to hear peoples views of this poker concept I have been thinking about. I'm sure someone has been there and done it well before I thought of it but I've yet to come across it myself

Poker Doubles (AKA Pocket Poker)

For simplicity imagine a 40 player tournament split in to two 20 players tournaments
Teams of two (or pairs) enter - 20 teams of two in total

There are two, two table tournaments running side by side (assuming 10 player tables). Tables 1A 1B and 2A 2B. One player on each team play tournament 1 and the other player tournment 2. Never the two will meet - independent side by side tourneys!

If you finish first you are awarded 20 points, 19 for second etc... 1 for the player out first
Each pair total up their points tally

Additionally there are bounties. This is to encourage players to play and not just play tight for places. Each bounty is worth 2 points.

So each pair have two finishing points and multiples of bounties to give them their final team total. The pair with the most number of points wins

Cash distributed for places and bounties in the usual way. The difference from other team events I've played in, is that all players are involved at the same time. Watcha think?
