A: Withdraw the money you have on there so they can't take anything
B: Play a game on there
C: Email them and ask for your account to be closed
    D: All of the above?

I think I'll do the latter.
lo (very fcukin) l, what a great idea, you could do it for anything that could be registered to, any one who has an account on a web site, promise them the world, get every one to register, then let them realise the web site is jaw droppingly bad, they will stay registered and then charge them a fee for admin after 6 mths, genius, money for nothing.

Then hassle the clients with emails for admin fees, they will never come back again but a small percentage will probably pay you off and this money can be seen as a % pay from players who probably will never return any way, a win, win situ.

Daylight robbery but genius. The fact that if they do it one more time I'm going to go down to partypoker and blow their fcukin kneecaps off with a sorn-off cos i'm so pissed off is another matter.

A charge of £0.25 for reading the post + £0.10 for any additional posts, would be more fair. After all you are sat by your phone 24/7 ( thats a lot of sitting )

The day before Christmas Eve I wanted to read an obscure book and found this website that had uploaded it. They had this deal which meant you could sign up and trial it for three days for free, and then after that they'd take $20 out of your account for the next month's subscription fee. So I did the free-trial thing and copied and pasted the whole book into MS Word to read later, and promised to myself on all that I hold holy to cancel the account within three days. Three days later I get an e-mail saying they've charged me $20 for January. I wonder how many people lose the $20 through their own incompetence like me? I will probably end up paying for February as well, because now I know I have access to the website for another month and it'd be a waste to cancel my account right now, even though I'm pretty sure I won't use it again anyway.

And Which? have built a whole business out of this. We all do it again and again, even though we all know you get nothing for nothing.

Ok, I'll defend Partypoker (and before anyone asks I have never played there or I am not connected with them in any way).

The way poker sites are advertised - initial sign-up bonuses, etc must encorage millions of people to sign up and make a single deposit. When they lose this deposit they are likely to sign up another account (with the same site, or another site) rather than deposit more funds since they will be assured of a further sign-up bonus. This must lead to millions of dead accounts.

The problem will be that the dead accounts end up with <£1 in them - not zero (which would allow the account to be closed, but not enough for the account owner to make a bet in order to clear the account). So how does the poker site deal with this ? Easiest way is a small admin fee to take these dead accounts to £0 at which point they can close them.

I know some of you will be saying - only a page in a database, but even this costs money to maintain - disk space, back-up time, extra time to query a huge database, and I am sure an IT person would give you 100 more reasons.
