Default Tournament rules for joining a new table question

    Hi all,

I have a quick question related to multi table tournaments and my apologies if this has been asked before. This evening I'm play in a low stakes multi table tournament, and there always seems to be some confusion amongst the players as to the rules of when you can be dealt in when sitting down at a new table. I've done some searching online and found some sites that state you can't be dealt in in the small blind or dealer button, whilst others say you cannot play in these or the big blind and must wait to be at the cut-off. Whilst I understand there are no conventional worldwide poker rules, can anyone offer the most common standard rules for this situation?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    AFAIK

if you join a table you can be sat anywhere on it but you cant be dealt in if you are sat in the SB or button and must wait untill you are in the cut off before being dealt in. If you sit in on the BB then you post and play.
