How much do you all roughly deposit into your account during the course of a week or month if your as unlucky as me, when i first started i lost alot and now tend not to play in big money tournaments until i can afford to lose. Whats the most you have deposited and lost and then felt you have to try and win it back???
zero.
My first deposit (~£40) didnt go well - realised poker was not easy money, so cashed out my last 15euro.
Fortunately I left it too late to put the cheque into my bank account, so it was refunded to my poker account, and Im still playing on this deposit
I have however learned that you should never chase losses - If you loose money it is probably because you are not playing your best game, so increasing the stake to try to win it back only leads to more loss. On one occassion I found myself playing HU for 100euro a go, having started losing at 3e and gradually increasing the stake to try to win it back - I got lucky, but on reflection afterwards I realise it could have gone badly wrong - lesson learned.
When i first started playing (Im talking 2 years ago) Id seen it on TV, didnt know what beat what when Flush v Straight etc. I was one of those wealthy bastards with too much spare cash who deposited about £300 a month just to lose it all.
On my Juliet2211 account on PCUK Ive never deposited since opening the account in April. Start small, build from there.
To be brutally honest if you're having to deposit weekly or monthly you're either not unlucky and just plain bad at poker, or playing at too high stakes for the amount you're depositing.
Up to you to decide which, if it's the former then take the time to read about poker strategy and also about bankroll management. You don't really have to be that knowledgeable to make a profit at low stakes anyway imo, I know I'm not
As for me, I've rarely deposited, never more than $150 anyway and when I have I stick to playing within my bankroll + withdraw my original deposit once I've built it up, that way I'm playing with "free" money.
Having said that, it's good to have a shot at a bigger game you're not bankrolled for every now and then otherwise it just gets boring, and if you win you can play them more often!! Just make sure you can afford to continue playing at a reasonable level if you lose! Alternatively, play satellites into the big tourneys with your profits from the low stakes games![]()
i had my ups and downs with poker. i have been playing online poker for over 2 years now. i started with fixed limits 1-2 and all the way to 20-40 but then i moved to no-limit and now only play NL holdem. I have transitioned from cash games to tournament poker. It is much safer and you only lose your buy-in. i am poor in bankroll management too...i am still trying to discipline myself.
Another thing i'd say that helped me in poker was to look for best deals/bonuses out there. Currently i have 20 poker site accounts and i hound for best bonuses - to start my bankroll.
I know that Neteller has launched a site listing bonuses from trusted merchants...and i think its available currently to UK members only. check it out in this url: showcase.neteller.com
I've never deposited. I only did once so I could set up the withdrawal thing on Full Tilt (You have to deposit before you can withdraw) but I took it straight back off again. I got a friend to send me $10 a few times and built it up from that. It's reached $18k max, but unfortunatly its not been a good month so far lol, so not quite that much atm.
TOO MUCH .. always get on a good run - then come in from a night out and steam roll the lot of it ( ive done it aleast 10 times in the last year )
On poker.co.uk a few thousand and have never withdrawn from it. For some unknown reason I can't deposit into my acount today, so I had to go on a 43 mile hike to the welsh coast, which was pretty good.
