    try googling "omaha hi lo"

    basic ideas
    0. The pot is split two ways. One half for the hi hand and the other for the lo, If there is no qualifying lo then the whole pot is given to the best hi hand

    1. you are trying to make 2 hands, one is a standard omaha hand (the hi) and the other is a low hand of which the highest card must be an 8. If you dont have 5 unpaired cards 8 or lower then you dont qualify for the lo hand.

    2. best lo hand is A2345 (straights and flushes do not count), the lowest hi card in the lo hand (LOL) defines the hands strength, e.g. 34567 beats A2348

    3. As in standard omaha, you need to use 2 cards from your 4 dealt and 3 of the community cards. You dont have to use the same 2 cards for your hi and lo hand.

    4. I'm pants at this but as in all split pot games, try and win both pots (called a scoop). The fish in this game are the ones that chase the lo hand with no hope of winning the hi. you can only win half the pot here and sometimes may end up sharing the lo half with someone else. This is called getting quartered.....and this is bad!!

    But seriously...try googling first

Every hand in hi/lo automatically makes a high hand, using two of your 4 cards, and sometimes also a low hand. A low hand is made with any 5 cards 8 or below, e.g. A2368. It doesn't matter if they make a straight or flush. Lows are only possible if there are 3 low cards on the board, because you have to use 2 from your hand. At showdown, half of the pot is for the best low hand/s and half for the best high hands. If there are no lows, the best high hand gets the whole lot. So it's fairly common in hi/lo to win some of the pot but end up with less than you started with, for example if you have the nut low (usually A2 in your hand) and somebody else also has it, then you will each get quarter of the pot while somebody else gets the other half. if you've put up 1/3 of the pot yourself then you end up with less than you started with.

I had a go at a game earlier and I did do that a few times, one time I rivered a straight though and won the hi and the lo

I somehow won the game (through luck mostly I think), but armed with this new knowledge I am going to give a couple of games a try now!!

Omahahahahahaha! You won't believe this but I've played three and won three!! lol

Only €5+0.50 games though. But the standard must be terrible, I doubt I've played more than 5 Omaha Hi/Lo games in my life before these ones! I still feel a bit clueless at times and am probably getting lucky, but still, must be doing something right
