9's are the only pair that i get caught in two minds over, i dont know why i just take ages deliberating whether to play them as i normally am quite quick in deciding my next action. If i dont play them you can garauntee that another 9 will appear in the flop, yet if i play them nothing will come off my bloody double 9's. I think i can safely say that 9's are my bogey hand. Does anyone else have a bogey hand.
Suggestions on how to play the double 9's might be useful. Thanks
Just play every hand. It is a strategy that works well with italian players.

i do know what you mean ive found literally in the last 6 or so races where ive had low pair and theyve had two over cards ive lost every single one. it is quite frutrating, especially considering you are actually ahead. and it is always happening at key moments i.e. at the end of a torny..
Its funny when i play well i lose and when i play like a twat i always hit the cards i need and stuff..... maybe i should keep playing like a twat lol
How many times do a simple middle pair win a hand by the river?
I'm no expert, but I play pocket pairs very caustiously. I'll see a cheap flop, or if it's worth my while because of a nice big pot.
But once the flop is out, don't be afraid to fold them. Because pocket pairs are only a decent hand pre-flop (or short-handed, then it's a different ball game).
I tend to try to limp in late position, and see if you can flop a set, but in a raised pot, or if any overcards hit the flop and you miss your set il tend to let them go. Pocket pairs extract value excellently when you hit the set, no body can put you on trip 9`s on a A 9 5 board. its somethin like 11% to complete your set on the flop, worth a punt if you can limp, see a flop and get your money in early![]()
I tend to call with my pairs when I think i'm winning and fold when I think i'm losing unless I have the correct odds to improve.
Walking away is easy. The hard part is standing up.
Nah, nines are magic - at least they are when I don't have them. In a live tourney at the start of the second level my aces got cracked by nines hitting a set (nines raise, I reraise, she shoves all in, I call with joy...but not for long). This left me crippled and 5 hands later I was so chuffed to see AK so I shove all in, get called by nines and of course they stand up. I was out within an hour of sitting down in a medium stack tourney so I hate the bloody things.
