How else could I play it?

meh, i'd shove or fold. I'd prolly fold cause he's never folding, espec as he can take your head.
Walking away is easy. The hard part is standing up.
Limp/fold.
"You have to give way too much action to get way too much action"
i am finding people way way over play hands like ace jack ace queen and ace king online... but yeah its just one of those hands really... maybe call and see the flop??
I'm sorry but I'm confused? You're moaning about losing to a premium hand? Given that the action was preflop, what did you put him on? You chose to think he had a hand worse that a middle pair and was shocked when you lost. He told you with his bet you were beat and you didn't listen. You were lucky he only had AK tbh.
im loving it online at the mo how manty people in tournaments call after the river with just ace high - they cant seem to see a board in front of them! i just keep getting paid off lol not huge amounts but just nice size bets - people over play hands like ace king - or just an ace in general way too much
oh and and after going through tha hand - i would have folded tbh... you know its a race or he might have a higher pair and do tyou want your tournament life on a race?? but another time in the same situation 7's will hold up!
AK AQ and AJ are hands you can easily get a boner over and play to the river especially if youre in an MTT and you've been playing super tight, you see an Ace with a Picture card next to it and you feel like you have to take it to showdown in case you never see an Ace again. I agree the players that do this do tend to lose a large chunk of their chips!
Given that you don't know what he's got, how does seeing the board help (unless one or two sevens land obviously)? What are you hoping to see? I think you are just deferring making a decision and its a lot of chips hoping you hit one of the those sevens. . If he bets you're still in the same situation, aren't you?
cheers for the input guys. the plan was to take the pot there and then. im not moaning about losing this hand in particular just had a shocking run in race v ak lately.

AK can be a difficult hand at times - although I'd have backed out after the first big raise. In that position (I don't know the time relative to the game/tournament) I'd not be hanging around unless I knew a specific trait of the aggressor
