Anyone ever tried this? Not necessarily about Poker or anything like that, but has anyone ever tried writing out a book either fact or fiction or whatever genre. And if so did you get it published and what were the steps you went through to do this? Im nearing the 30k word mark on my little project and Im starting to think about what future it may have.
Yes, I have wrote several stories of my own which have been considered by many publishers, I am currently writing for a website at the moment as the chief reporter for my football team![]()
Wrote a 142 page book to accompany a CD once.
Tried to write a novel two or three times but keep writing myself into a corner and drying up. I know I should blast ahead and finish it first then work out the kinks, but knowing there's a problem with it just screws up my thought process.
lol dan, ive been writing my thing for over a year now on and off, and just recently picked it back up. But it seems every time i start writing again my laptop breaks. Now the screen wont work so I hve to plug it into a Monitor for an old Desktop and run everything in Safemode... >.<
Looks like ill be stack at 25k words forever.
This is an excerpt from my erotic novel, which will probably never be published because this is about 20% of the whole novel at the moment and I have no plans to continue writing it.
Besides that I have some other papers and things in the works. Your best bet would be to google "how to get published", and you'll probably get a lot better advice there than on here. And then he was in her, thrusting deeply at her exposed ramparts, which he rapidly beat down with strategically applied aggression. The garrison had stood no chance as once more he entered the breach, holding hard the breath and bending every spirit to its full height. Like his royal predecessor, he was taking no prisoners and was about to let pry like a brass cannon when Anne unexpectedly sat up and expelled his forces from her sacred kingdom. He followed the surprised expression in her eyes and turned around to see Bob standing aghast over them.
I also have some plans to make a gay philosophy-based comic, with the main characters, Gayto and Cock-ra-tease, and special appearances from the likes of Saint Thomas A-Fine-Ass and Immanuel de Kant (that's my favourite one).
-SenecaThere is nothing which Fortune does not dare.
-Robert J. AumannIn interactive decision making – games -- you must consider what other people would do if you did something different from what you actually do.
- Napoleon BonaparteThe great general is not he who makes fewest mistakes, but he who can best take advantage of the mistakes of his enemy.
You will find that every library should have a reference copy of the Writers and Artists Yearbook which has lots of useful articles as well as a list of all literary agents and publishers. Its helpful as it will tell you who doesn't like unsolicited work so you don't waste your time and money.
The W&A Yearbook mentioned above is a MUST HAVE. An updated version comes out annually (obv). The best creative writing mag in the UK is "Mslexia" (quarterly) which has all UK competitions, grants, workshops, retreats etc listed in the last few pages of every edition. It's only available by subscription. Average length of a novel for submission is about 100k words. Many are much longer, but 70k is considered a novella and not popular with publishers in the UK as the market is small and the production costs high. Hope this helps and good luck.
