I still rate Sklansky's "Theory Of Poker" highly for excellent grounding in poker concepts.

If youve read a few basic books and know where you are then I definitely recommend Harrington on Hold'Em I and II since thats what Im going through myself at the moment. If youre playing Tournament style poker itll sort you out with where your head needs to be.

Agreed. Best poker book ever written imo.

...but the internet is a better resource than any poker book.

Playing online and having read a few basic books you will have a slight edge perhaps over the most standard of opposition but the variance at those stakes is huge. What Im reading the Harrington books for is to hope that I can then progress onto higher stakes MTTs and create a larger bankroll.

Harrington on Holdem 1 & 2 are must reads for NLHE tourneys. I'd get them both together if I were you, along with book 3 if you can stretch to it.

I know what you're saying, but thought it was worth the time to reinforce the concepts from the first two books, and think I got them all together on a 3 for the price of 2 offer and sure something like that will be out there still somewhere if you shopped around.

Ditto re: Harrington 1 and 2. If you want a different perspective to what a lot of the books repeat try: The Poker Tournament Formula by Arnold Snyder. It has interesting stuff on different types of tourneys. I think Harringtons books apply best to deepstacks and aren't always helpful for low buy-in, low starting stack crap shoots but Snyder has advice for these.
