Ok been playing a little cash. Basically the player in question is that we have some history together. He has sucked out on me a few times. He is a pretty good player though but is very LAG. My poker tracker is being a bit ghey though and not working so i do not have full stats on him. Anyway whats our line here

If hes as LAG as you say i might put him on two overcards or something? Posibly suited spades? AQ or AJ spades or something? I mean he could have a set but i would doubt it. Dunno, i dont play cash im just taking a guess.
I take it yo found out what he had?
Therefore we are calling a ship by him then. Just asking as these donkaments have effected my cash IMO

Why do people even ask questions like this? If you don't know the answer to this question you shouldn't be playing at all. It's like the most standard scenario in all of poker.

If you don't know what to do on this flop, then why call pre? It's not going to come 789 all that often!
You have to raise to at least 35-40, if he shoves all in you have to fold, if he calls, it depends on the turn really, at least 2/3 times he's folding though.
I just call here and probably call a turn bet too regardless of what hits if you have history and he is capable of firing two bullets with air (as you implied he is). He never calls a raise with a worse hand and there are so few draws you can have. Raising to "find out where you are" sucks IMO.
"You have to give way too much action to get way too much action"
My view is that calling preflop is a bad idea, I don't really want to play a good LAG OOP with JTo, it's such a shitty hand. I'd prefer to re raise or fold our entire range preflop against this type of player, my default play would be to fold though I think, even 4 handed.
Is this guy short cause he just lost a pot, or does he just like to play short ? If the later i'm giving him much less credit for being a good LAG.
I think calling the flop is preferable to raising too. Given the nature of the board I think he'll fire air again on the turn a fair amount, but when we raise I don't see him calling with many worse hands and I can see him shipping some draws and stuff that we just don't want to fold too. Something like call flop, check/ship turn has more value than raising flop imo.
Walking away is easy. The hard part is standing up.
Bump for discussion on raising v calling. Or at least why raising is better than calling.
