Check or Bet??

At the very last round of betting when the river has just come and u know you've got the nuts or very very good hand + you have people after you to make their play:

do you check? hoping someone bets

or do you bet? try to get a little more

i know it may depend on how people have been playing like aggressive or whatever plus size of pot maybe, but like for a general rule do most people check or bet???
i'm always in two minds.

so what do you do??

Check it usually. I think you get more that way. Depends how many are in the pot and how much action there was on flop and turn though, how likely it is someone will bet again. Depends if you just made your flush on the river because a player who was genuinely betting a strong hand in late position on the flop/turn will probably check on the river. Betting with your flush will get you more here because they'll expect to beat your range (if you make the bet small enough too, half-pottish).

Depends. If you're gonig to bet it really depends on whether the other person has been betting and you've been calling. Or then again checking maybe good if there are still around 3 or 4 players left? it totally depends. Or maybe small bet and hope for a raise?

Basic theory is to always bet the nuts (and match with bluffs). At low stakes you're going to be bluffing less, so you can afford to sell a few, but mostly betting pot or all in.

online i'd say value bet more often, 1/3rd of the pot to look weak or representing a block bet if the board is layered and your previous action is varied, any reads on the villain should help determine your play, and your image to them will affect their decision to pay you off or fold

with aggro opponents I check oop then RR or RRAI in this spot a lot. depends on the reads I have and the players actions on prev streets.

Another beautiful reason why you dont enter a pot without raising with AK!! And also dont then get a total BONER for your hand when you have no information on the BB's hand.

Is this a cash game or tournament?

In cash I have usually got so out of line so often that the nuts on the river is a shove (often up to double the pot size).

Sure they get out of the way sometimes but tends to work out very positive overall as the times you stack someone who decided to get stubborn against the lunatic with just TPTK is amusing.

Then again I play pretty low cash games and have a ridiculous image, priding myself on getting on the "fish" lists of as many people as possible!

I nearly always bet here. I would say that for me personally though this action is chosen because greed is a big factor of my game... and life. Probably a good reason why I'm not winning as much as I would like?

In that case my advice would be to check lol
