    Default omaha h/l

just started playing this in sngs.

problem is , when I get heads up, I take an age figuring out my best hands/draws from the cards available.

    any tips on this?

should I be playing poker at all?

They do SNG's in PLO-hi/lo format?? what site is that FT

To be honest aghla playing online is not the best place to to learn Omaha hi/lo. The timer makes it as you say hard to assess the hand.

I play every now and then but at real low micro stakes
There are tons of websites with tips/strategys I will PM you a couple

Oh and try to avoid playing hands with 3 of the same cards in i.e. 888x
They look good but probably wont win you much unless the 4th one pops up

Omaha hi/lo can be confusing when you first start playing but it's probably the easiest game to multi-table 10 games at once once you've mastered o8b reading skills.

I'd focus on pot-limit O8B so that it improves your pot-limit omaha hi play at same time. Some sites have No Limit O8B which ruins the game though. People just wait for aces then push their whole stack in. At any time there can be a huge overbet pre-flop and post-flop when people have the nuts and misclicks can be very costly!

I lost a $1700 pot the other day because I decided to play aces post flop and made a 2 way hand on the river which was second best in both directions. 5 lo and str8 versus 4 lo and full house!

In this example from my latest session at $5/$10 NLO8B, I made the push with aces and was a 60/40 fav.

thanks for the PM Wizard , will check out those links.

can't imagine multi tabling ...unless it's waiting for AA....must try that at micro limits.

Hollywood Poker do SNG's for Omaha and Stud. I sometimes play the $1 buy-ins for these just for a bit of variation. Also I'm not very good at them either!

The quick tips I learnt were:

    double suited = good
more than two of a kind = bad
if by some fluke you are dealt them you really have to fold four of a kind (which is the most depressing part)
play to win both pots (high and lo hence the real power of aces)
if there aren't three cards 8 or under on the board no one can have a lo
Omaha is a game of big hands - you will often need better than two pair to take a high pot

I find playing on line is not great for improving your game as they fold the hands so quickly that you can't practice assessing the hands or monitor your opponents' range. But its virtually impossible to find a live game as no one wants to phaff about working out who won what. Personally I really like it as a game.
