Does anyone here use software to enhance their game? On the one hand I don't want to be giving an advantage to my opponents by not being able to keep up with the action as well, but on the other hand i don't want to become dependent on artificial help and I'm not entirely convinced that it shouldn't be classed as cheating (surely your ability to remember situations and utilise that knowledge in future is one of a poker player's natural abilities).
Do you recommend using such software? What percentage of online players are using it? Do you think it is fair? Do you think it's counter-productive by taking away your natural instincts? Are there ways of spotting someone who is relying on software and using this against them?

what software do you mean? the kind that runs in realtime when your playing telling you odds etc? or software to help analyse your game after ie. pokertracker
I've only seen screenshots and scanned a few reviews but from what i can tell it seems that it runs while you're playing and collects all the information (far more than anyone could reasonably hold in mind) about the other players actions in different situations with different hands. I guess it then puts them on a range and perhaps recommends a play that has worked against this player before.
You can probably tell that I would prefer not to use it since I want to learn poker, not just make money, and i would like to play live one day so the more I leave to my cognitive ability (lacking though that may be) the better. I just wondered how many players do use software and whether i'm leaving myself at a serious disadvantage by not doing so.

I use pokertracker and holdem indicator, the second of these I use most.
