Hi,
I'm relatively new to poker and this seems to be the place to go for UK residents. I notice that the parent site of this forum is poker.co.uk, and i have to confess that I've never heard of it before. I have commited quite a lot of cash to partypoker, pokerstars, full tilt and pacific poker and was wondering what you guys feel about these sites and whether, as a low-stakes newb, i would find a game easily at poker.co.uk, and how the standard of play compares. Also, is the site only available to UK residents?
One other thing: I would like to play live at some point but don't have the first clue about how to go about this (i have played a few hands with friends which usually descend into an intoxicated farce) save walking into a casino and probably getting kicked out straight away for wearing the wrong clothes. I live in South Wales so this is probably a longshot, but is there anywhere around here that I can find some (regulated) action, without ending up massively out of pocket?
I'm going to make another couple of threads, relating to specific things i've noticed so far playing online, this is not a post-count thing, it'll just be easier.
Regards,
daldai.

Might this be close enough to you for live poker? - £10 deepstack in Wales - Bristol & South West Poker Group - sponsored by Poker.co.uk (Bristol) - Meetup.com
I think it's a fairly regular thing (although this games has just passed).
Walking away is easy. The hard part is standing up.
It sounds like pub poker is what you want. This forum is affiliated with a pub poker league but the nearest venues to you are across the border in Bristol/Cheltenham/Yate/Gloucester. I think it would suit you cos it is a good entry point to live poker as the standard is varied and the buy-ins are cheap. In this league they range from £2-£5 and in fact are entirely optional (you can still play but cant take a slice of the prize pool). The games are professionally run by experiences players who are used to new people turning up and so will help with the little things like dealing and blinds etc.
Try googling for pub poker in your area.
Hello and welcome....you will find all the help and advice you need via our forum...enjoy the ride.
Get to know Denis who runs the above game, then grab a lift with him sometime when he comes over to one of the meetup group games in Bristol - it's a great crowd with lively action and fun banter, and our membership will be able to answer any of your questions about live games, be they casino or home based.
Thanks everyone, link added for future reference and i'll be checking this site regularly to see what's happening.
