In the last four days I have decided to return to the poker world by playing the speed, NLHE $6 S&G's on partypoker.com. For many of you $6 may sound like loose change, but to a skint student it counts as quite a lot! Although I have been successful so far I'm slightly resentful of the partypoker website for three reasons:
1. The exchange rate from £s to $s means I'm getting a bit screwed on the deposit/cash out divide as the website appears to be skimming a fair bit.
2. For every sit & go I play a 6th is raked (i.e. $1 of $6). This adds up after a while and although I expect a rake to exist, this feels like too much.
3. Their loyalty points system is hopeless. I have played over 200 games in the last 3 days (so that's about $200 from me to them) and yet I haven't received any increase because of their stupidly designed system.
However, I do like some aspects of PP. Because it is very popular the tables fill up quickly so I don't have to wait for too long. I love their speed system because the blinds go up appropriately fast, allowing for more action and bluffing and as I have gone from a $50 initial deposit to $480 in about three days, I can hardly complain that the system isn't benifeting me overall.
My question is whether there is a better website for my style of play out there? Ultimately, I'm looking for 10 player sit and go's, no more, no less, with speed blinds, pounds as the currency and a good loyalty system with plenty of promotions. I'd appreciate any advice that you guys can give. Thanks.
It might be worth you checking out William Hill Poker, the currency is pounds and the tables 10 seaters, the speed games are called "thunderstorms" or something similar.
Not sure what promos they do these days but last year I won a trip to Spain to watch Barca V Rangers through them in a promotion they were running![]()
Thank you mate! I'll check it out...
