Now trying the cash game - its a bit different .....
Having played about 60% including raising the last three hands in a row and blagged some dosh back (with a bluff all in on the previous hand), I get my dream - AA UTG - and play the same standard raise hoping for some irritated callers/re-raiser. A few seconds later and its goodbye bye in.
Having started the hand that way, was I doomed or was there a way out ?

That is a really bad way to play AA mate because you are only ever going to get called by a hand that has you beat, like a flopped set or two pair.
People will disagree with me but I limp AA pre flop if I'm in early position because people will be flat calling all day set mining you...and you either win a little pot or lose a big one
Or if you want to raise it, then make it about 5 or 6 BB at least, 3 BB is too small.
My play is to limp from UTG and hope to re raise, nothing better than seeing someone raise after you limp then someone re raises and then you can get it all in all in pre flop 3 way![]()
I think the flop push is fine with your image and you will get called with a ton of worse hands as well as sets and 2 pairs. The money is going in on this flop anyway, so while my default would be to make it about $7, shoving is by no means terrible.
Walking away is easy. The hard part is standing up.
Thanks - sound. Using a big re-raise (with TPTK) saved my stack twice already by smoking out big pairs.
I have to say I disagree because you have to wonder what hands make the call...what hands worse than AA call there??
Sets everytime, two pairs, straights, I don't think many people would be calling for a flush draw unless they have a gut shot as well, which is not going to be often. I just don't see how shoving that flop could ever be a good play.
If you are short stacking then it is perfectly fine but with 100BB behind you, not many people are going to call beat IMO.
As someone already said i raise to at least $1 pre, with limping to raise being a good second option at these stakes with an aggressive table. I might be tempted to just call the flop facing an overbet lead...but i certainly dont go broke with AA and that flop. Although if youre image was that loose maybe you just gotta shove even if you hate it.
"You have to give way too much action to get way too much action"
Flush draws will convince themselves to call and hands like TT aren't out of his range and will also call. Keep in mind his image too, he is playing very loose and very aggressive by the sounds of it, so I don't think it's out of the question that 9x makes a hero call on us too.
