Happy new year everyone![]()
Started dabbling in a few small buy in regular sit and gos.
Not really that equppied to play in them experience wise so interested in how I should play this hand.
43 players at the beginning, $10 buy in.
Down to 16 players left and I'd started well but I always start to lose my stack as the blinds go up.
Anyway, I'm in the Dealer button and I have 2,900 chips and get dealt 88.
The chip leader who is on $17,000+ had started TAG but was now very aggressive and rightly so in his position. Anyway, he raises to 3BB pre flop (300 chips) and there's one caller so far with me and the blinds to act.
Firstly, do I re raise here?
My thoughts were that he was likely to call a re raise and a flop with any picture card is going to really slow me down so I decided to see the flop.
SB folds and BB calls and the flop is 5h 3c 6s
BB checks, chip leader bets just 300 chips into a pot of 1,250...
Player before me folds and with my stack I decide to push all in.
Obviously he calls and I lose the pot otherwise I wouldn't be posting but what do you put him on at first and was I right to push my stack there in that position?
Was you beat on the flop then?
He could have easily played 33, 55 or 66 this way in his position. Thing is his bet of 300 after the flop is quite hard to suss if he did make a set I would have expected either a check-raise or the initial bet he makes to be slightly more.
Personally in this position I would have probably just called to see what the turn brings plus his next move. Think about it if you did call and the turn shows a picture card or he throws in a mental amount you can probably get away from it with 23 BB's still left to play with.
The range of cards he is going to call you with will be quite large because of his chip lead. He could quite easily have AQ or AK and fancy his chances in a race. He could probably have A anything and still fancy his chances
I reckon he was holding an over pair but not the KK or AA more then likely 10's or J's. He could also be one of those nutters that plays a certain hand and his just happens to be 2,4![]()
JJH just out of curiosity what did he have?
Cheers guys, he called and turned over QQ.
I was quite shocked to see queens, I was worried about 10's or 9's, but his bet of just 300 on the flop was tricky to work out. I was expecting to see AJ or A 10 from him to be honest.
I guess I could have just re raised his bet on the flop as L Scrote suggested, if he re raises then I fold.
But then, he is still likely to call with overcards to the board to my re raise on the flop, especially with his stack.
It wasn't the best postion to be in really lol...
