Slashdot | Tracking Online Cheaters in Poker

new article posted today on slashdot about new MSNBC.

I am sure many people are following this story anyway of course I just wonder how much damage it will do to trust in online gambling once it all comes to light
Why has it come to this?

Yeah but the so called 'proof' has only come to light in the last coupel of days and no real sources cept a bunch of hackers/geeks as the media are calling it..

Once some official investigation takes place I doubt they will be so lucky

Wasnt this a $1000 buy in with 700 odd players?.. lot of money

I am surprised no one caught on earlier.. has been a month since the tourny ended and only today they announce there is to be an official investigation..

Who ever is responsible could have gotten away with this for years taking just small amounts over a long time.. typical greed again gave their game away.. Taking a 600K pot cheating was not the smartest idea..

Its more frigtening that people are only just realising it would be possible to see everyone hands, regardless of if the software has some 'super' mode or not.. if you are sitting at the physical server hosting the game you could easily see who is doing what.

I bet server admins could inject numbers into roulette etc just as simple too.. If you have full physical access or even root remote access its only down to how far you want to manipulate the software controling the games.
