Default Poker break?

I was thinking last night, i think i really need a poker break; whenever ive taken a break ive come back v strong, even if it was only a short break.

I think ive only ever taken one break in my whole poker career and that was last december for 7 days when i went to Tenerife with the family, oh and a 4 day break the morning after my pokerstars win (that doesn't count since i couldnt stop thinking about poker obviously!).

I reckon i will take a 1 month break in Febuary next year since me and matt have got our contract sorted out for what tourneys i am playing up until then.

So you are probably thinking, why am i posting this?

I don't feel that im playing good poker on the net anymore, i seem to do extremely well building a bankroll somewhere and blow it like an amateur. I built a nice $12k from $1k on FTP and now i leave myself with $3k WTF IS THAT ABOUT SERIOUSLY

Who here has the pleasure to say that they have taken a poker break and have come back stronger?

I think a break will do you good. To win $12,000 then bring that ROI right down to $3,000 is probably evidence of being bored with online play and time that you could do with a week off...

Playing every single day is bound to lead to a bit of boredom and maybe it affects your play without you even noticing it...I don't play at your levels but I've had good sessions were I am well up and with a combination of boredom and an early good run I play badly and end up leaving the session with a very small profit compared to what I had made...

Even a couple of days off would prob make a difference and you'd come back a lot stronger...

You need to go somewhere where you physically can't play poker, as in it's illegal, but can play golf and relax, maybe a trip to Dubai or something??

I think I am going to be taking an indefinite break from poker, since I need to use the money in my poker account to pay for application fees for courses I want to apply for. Most universities seem to charge about £80 just for them to read your application and consider you. Consider that you should be applying to 5-6 universities and this mounts up. Plus I'm going to have to spend £100+ to sit a GRE examination, I think. In some senses I suppose all this could be considered to be a good bet, since if you get an offer from a place they could offer up to £20k a year for several years in funding. Still a bit sick though. Unless I make a big win at the GUKPT I think I'll need to "borrow from myself", and use my poker money to pay for this other stuff, and maybe when I have the money again I can "re-pay myself".
