Hey guys,
We're starting a new section in the magazine from next month where we ask readers to send us an interesting hand history and have it analysed by a panel of experts. it'll be done in the style of a forum, so after they've given their thoughts you can reply and interact really. Anyway for the first month I obv need to find an interesting hand and I thought i'd give you guys the first shot at this opportunity. We're ideally looking for tournament hands, but cash hands are also fine, as they're often more interesting anyway. When submitting a hand, iwhich certainly doesn't have to have gone to showdown, we'd like as much info as possible: - any reads on the players - your thoughts and reasoning for the action - any past history on the players - if it's a tournament, what stage is it at, avg stack is, what's your table image etc - alterantive action you considered - what hand(s) do you put your opponents on - etc Here' an examples i've seen on forums recently that sparked some debate and are the sort of thing we're looking for: Take all factors into consideration and read HH carefully. no distinct reads available PokerStars Game #9408273700: Tournament #47144287, $100+$9 Hold'em No Limit - Level VII (100/200) - 2007/04/13 - 21:48:56 (ET) Table '47144287 3' 9-max Seat #8 is the button Seat 1: mattg1983 (19046 in chips) Seat 2: kate_sexy (18497 in chips) Seat 3: gank (9850 in chips) Seat 4: caprioli (17995 in chips) Seat 5: GigaBet (4221 in chips) Seat 6: Hibbs08 (27587 in chips) Seat 7: Riverloser (11705 in chips) Seat 8: pepperdiablo (3450 in chips) Seat 9: peggydee (6290 in chips) mattg1983: posts the ante 25 kate_sexy: posts the ante 25 gank: posts the ante 25 caprioli: posts the ante 25 GigaBet: posts the ante 25 Hibbs08: posts the ante 25 Riverloser: posts the ante 25 pepperdiablo: posts the ante 25 peggydee: posts the ante 25 peggydee: posts small blind 100 mattg1983: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to mattg1983 [Qc Qh] kate_sexy: calls 200 gank: folds caprioli: folds GigaBet: folds Hibbs08: raises 1000 to 1200 Riverloser: folds pepperdiablo: raises 2225 to 3425 and is all-in peggydee: folds mattg1983: ??? |

Ah! didn't see the no reads bit.
The problem with this hand is that it's a tournament. Don't we just say "whoppie! two high cards what are the same!!! (*do pump fist action*) AND there's a raise and an allin before me" - then break our finger when trying to press the all in button to quickly. followed by "WHAT, you limped aces utg??? zomg what a fish, u suck at lyfe spasmatron" ...or has something changed and tournaments require an element of skill nowadays? In all seriousness though, I imagine that this hand did generate some good discussion because it seems quite close just because of the pot size and the stack sizes of the ppl in the hand. When a decision is close you always get more discussion. I don't really know what to do so id probably time out and then curse myself for not acting in time. |

Well firstly i think, im sat with nearly 20k chips at 100/220 blinds w/ 25 antes. Thats quite a lot of chips compared to the blinds if you ask me, taking this into consideration along with the fact there is someone still to act behind you who has more chips i am going to fold.
Player Hibbs has raised 6x BB in mid position after a player limps UTG and then a player has gone all-in for 3400. Now one play that you cant afford to make is a call since the original raiser can easily come over the top and you will have another decision to make, so, folding here is a good idea...its far to dangerous to call since you cold be putting dead money into the pot, and i don't like the idea of putting all my money in with QQ in early stages of a tournement.

Don't call unless the guy with the big stack is an absoloute maniac and you are sure he will re-raise allin...that scenario is very unlikely so this case is often a fold.
Woody, are you saying you would push allin here after all this action and the big stack behind you?
