Live MTT, 18 players on 3 tables of 6. 10k starting stack and 50/100 blinds for the 1st hour.
Blinds are 50/100 with a few minutes left before they rise to 100/200, UTG has ~8k and CO covers by quite a bit (5-7k ish?). UTG has lost a few pots to the CO recently and the table is fairly loose pre-flop.
UTG limps, folded to CO who raises to 300, BB calls and UTG calls.
Flop comes A 7 5 with two clubs. BB checks, UTG checks, CO bets 600, BB folds and UTG raises to 2k, CO calls. Turn is an offsuit 2, UTG bets 2k and CO calls. River is the 3and UTG pushes for ~4k.
1) What range of hands do you put UTG on?
2) What range of hands should the CO call with?

I had a feeling I'd read about this hand on here today !!!![]()
The only hands that make any real sense for UTG is 77 or 55. However, seeing as this is the meetup group we shouldn’t rely on sense(!) so I wouldn’t rule out a badly played flush draw or a pair worse than aces. In fact I can well imagine a check raise followed by weak turn lead being a flush draw (uck!). This would be a pretty strange bluff I think so some sort of hand seems likely.Originally Posted by FirePhil
I don’t like how we got to the river which makes this spot harder to say. Against some players I’d call here with top pair but realistically we should probably only call with our flush and not our top pair (which is pretty much all I consider our range to be).Originally Posted by FirePhil
I reckon UTG wins the hand after a light call from the CO with top pair.
You again is it!!!Originally Posted by dancoles
I can't imagine either of these players being Phil so i'd be curious to know who they were!
Not me this time !!! lolOriginally Posted by PokerWoody
Phil was UTG and the CO was Holbrook.
Completely rubbish assessment of how the hand actually played out, but I wont say anymore as I saw it played and I'm sure Phil will enlighten when the time comesOriginally Posted by PokerWoody

as soon as phil was in the hand with me, i was pretty confident that he was gunna try and push me off, as im sure he was condfident that i was gunna raise ANY flop. i only had to hope that i hit the flop (which i did), and then once he re-raised i knew he was gunna keep firing until i was gone, and that wasnt gunna happen as luckily the flop was kind enough to give me two pair.
the rest as they say is history.
i think the key to the way this hand played out was the few hands b4 it.
IM YOUR DADDY!!!!
You didn't put UTG on a draw. You summarised UTG to take the hand with top pair assuming i'm reading this as you meant it:Originally Posted by PokerWoody
Meaning UTG wins the hand with top pair? What the hell did CO call with?I reckon UTG wins the hand after a light call from the CO with top pair.
As it happened UTG did have a draw from the flop but it wasn't a great one

So yeah, I was pretty much wrong on those two aspects as it turned out.Originally Posted by Matty H
To be fair though UTG's line is pretty much inconsistant with any hand, I mean the 2k bet on the turn is a real curve ball, pretty much no hand he can have should be making that bet be it sets, draws, bluffs or pairs.
