However i am slightly shocked with people saying call here. In my head after the flop was to fold. I stupidly called the bet knowing full well i was behind which sucks. I am shit, crap, wank, bollox and a fish

I'm saying call because KT is the only feasible hand that you really don't want to see, you've got decent equity against anything else (AQ and AJ are meh, but they're less likely after the pre-flop limp). Weaker aces and bluffs included in there somewhere and the big pot and the short stack = call IMO.

No thats fair enough Phil i totally understand your reasoning for this. I thought i was going to get slated for this play however i am now happy that others are doing the same and shows we are all as equally as crap as each other.

PS My new avatar rocks and i like yours Phil but it has no girls on it

Yeah, ideally there would be a naked chick holding the cards.

If I got pushed there so early in a tourney, I honestly think I'd fold.

I agree with Phil in many ways but a lot of players will limp call a pre flop raise with AQ, AJ, K 10 etc and they'll want to see the flop before betting.

With that in mind, then a push on the flop is unlikely with Ace rag. I think a push has to be respected there, two pair is very possible or as was the case, K 10 suited.

So Walty, if you folded, I'd say not a bad lay down mate.

In fact, only yesterday I got beat by nearly the same situation.

Cash game, raise 5 BB with AK suited, one player just flat calls,

    flop came A J Q.

I bet pot amount and he pushed.

Reluctantly I called, knowing full well my top pair was busted.

    He flipped K 10

In hindsight, I could have folded this hand and not lost my entire stack! If I'd folded, I wouldn't have lost much at all in the pot and woldn't have lost any face.
