I probably need to clarify. I've downloaded to track my cash game process which Ive been dabbling with for the last few weeks or so on a semi serious basis and I'm doing ok. I've tripled my bankroll but I want to keep a more definitive record hence poker tracker, but being a lazy barsteward I'm struggling to figure out how to incorporate the software into my games. I use Stars if that's any help?

If you've tripled your bankroll in a few weeks your bankroll isn't big enough for whatever level you're playing.

I'm playing $0.25/$0.50 level and started with a bankroll of just $50 as that is the max you can buy in for on that level. I'm up to just over $150

That's not a bankroll. That's one buyin that's now 3 buyins. At that level 15-20 buyins is probably adequate, but the more you run with the lower your risk of ruin.

Look at Woody's graphs, downswings can be pretty severe and you need to be able to withstand them as he did.

No, it's a bankroll. A bankroll being a designated amount of cash used to fund your game.

I'm not a big cash game fan, mainly cos I suck at it, but I fancied trying this as an experiment. I totally agree about the downswings being severe at times, but variance means the upswings can be too. For instance - 4th hand onmy first table I flop a full house and get put allin by trips and double up immediately.

I set aside 50 bucks as an experiment to see how long it would last me and how far I could take it. So far so good. Now up to over 220 bucks. I do have a total bankroll of more than this Stars, all made from stts which despite some people frowning on I can build successful bankrolls from tournament play. I've done so on Stars, VC and pokeruk, but if I lose my cash game bankroll then that's me done as my heart is really in tourneys

As I Say, this is just a bit of fun really, although I am taking it semi seriously

Move down to 10/25 then. There is nothing wrong with having a high risk of ruin but 3 buyins is just a little crazy!

The thing is I wondered if at that level it might be a little too fishy? Although fishy aint always a bad thing obviously.

Do you play short handed tables? I've been playing 9 handed but feel I could probably gain more short handed, although I suppose the variance counteracts that to the same effect and the blinds come around quicker
