Default QQ - Got my self in a silly spot

CO is new to me but we are playing on 3 tables together and have played about 80 hands in total. So far he seems to be a fairly vanilla TAG with stats of 21/10. I haven’t seen him get out of line of on any table yet and he has a big stack on two tables but only a 2/3rds stack on the other table.

BB I have played with a few times before and I have a habit of stacking him but I don’t think he has ever stacked me. I have about 250 hands on him and over that time he has played somewhat loose passively although I know he does like to raise his draws sometimes too. The most recent time I took his stack was when I flopped a flush and he flopped top pair + 2nd nut flush draw. I lead out, he raised big, I pushed and he called. It’s very possible he has a mini vendetta out against me. His stats are 31/7/1.Xish

On this table I have been playing at about 28/24 but I have been a bit tighter on the other tables with the CO and played with the BB before so if they use PT then mystats will be more like 22/18.

    NL100

    CO - $175
    BB - $82
    Woody - $140

Folds to CO who raises to $5, I call on button with QQ, SB folds, BB calls

3 Players to the flop, pot is ~$15

    Flop is T97

BB checks, CO bets $12, I raise to $36, BB pushes for $77, CO folds and I call $41.

General thoughts about better ways to play this hand?

a quick question.... you obviously called on the button for a reason. Isnt this type a flop something like you would want to see? an over pair to the board... if it isnt then why call on the button?

I called preflop because I think I reraise the button too much and i've been experimenting with cold calling more hands, especially against this sort of opponent, which also has to include some of my bigger hands. I probably should have reraised with these stacks though I do agree and it also make the rest of the hand (in this instance) play a lot easier.

I played a KK hand the other day where I raised from the button and got 3 callers. The flop came 789, it checked to me and I checked behind. Can't remember the turn card but someone bet, someone else called and I folded. That sort of flop tends to be the worst for over cards I think becuase anyone who puts any real money into the pot either figures to be way ahead or about even to you.

I think this flop isn't too bad here, or at least there are certainly worse. T87 would be worse becuase people love J9 and it also makes JQ less likey (which i'm happy to play for stacks with). The thing is that there are very few hands which I beat when he pushes over two players like that, but then I'm getting 3.5-1 closing the action and he does hate me!

I totally forgot about the BB and was just thinking about the CO when I made my flop bet. I think I should have bet a little more perhaps, say $45

Curious as to what the end result was in the hand.... AT? A8? both are possibilites. A push with an open end s8 draw? or protecting top pair?

What about calling on the flop insteaded or reraising? :-S such a horrible play? I think the professor was banging on a few weeks back about controlling the size of the pots, show down value?

I know the hand was over by the flop... but just a few random thoughts i had whilst looking at your hand.

I think the BB may have flopped a set and 2pair is also a possibility, calling a pre-flop raise with a pocket 10's or a 9 10 suited seems to make sense. Its just the way he check raised. Please tell me he had Jacks

Thats exacaly why i push like this with an open end s8 draw... because people expect a check raise like this with two other players in the hand to have at least 2 pair if not a set, however you have to be very carful if you do this because if he did have an open ender he allowed woody to be priced in... if he had a set then tbh i think he played it well... but personally i wouldnt check the flop - i would lead out buts thats just my style of play.

It all boils down to what he thought woody thinks he had.... if he thought that woody thought he was on an open ender then he 'has' to call, if he thought that woody thought that he was on trips then i think you could get away from the hand... but depending on how experienced the guy was and if he put woody on a range of hands and put himself in his shoes then he must have known woody would have called with odds he was geting??! wo talk about over complicate this hand - i shall shut the hell up before i type even more!

Ps.... i 'think' he had an open ender

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that when you get dealt QQ or KK or AA- I know you're probably ahead, but once a flop like this comes, you just simply cannot now where you stand....too much goes into the pot and before you know it, you're trying to defend a single pair most of the time!!

He bet $12- you raised and he raised all in- tricky situation- his big re raise indicates either a set or AA or KK. Going all in with a pair of queens here seems daft- to risk an entire stack with QQ isn't worth it IMO.

Perhaps the best advice would have been to reraise the flop, just to see his reaction then- if another raise, then I'd be folding the QQ pre flop. One thing I am starting to learn is that simply calling a pre flop raise leaves you in a weak position, you need to re raise with strong starting hands to gain respect and make them think- so you can grab the pot on the flop with a bit of aggression.
