Just to add-
Raising their raise pre flop here makes them think twice about what you might have- so if he had KK- would he have raised you all in on the flop if you had raised pre flop? Maybe not as he might think you'll have AA. Being in control of the betting pre flop helps control the rest of the hand and can help make a player weary of doing exactly what he did here.
It isn't the inital better who has moved all in, it's the guy who checked the flop.Originally Posted by jjh
Of course it is!!! Hands have relative and not absolute values. Risking your entire stack with QQ against AA isn't worth it, risking your entire stack with QQ against TT is. One of the major skills in poker is being able to asses what hands you are up against and then play correctly.Originally Posted by jjh

Sorry Woody, read the first post wrong- but I still think calling this bet is a mistake at this stage because he would appear to have either hit the set, two pair or got KK or AA. Surely QQ isn't that strong here?
As for forgetting other players at the table, I've mentioned that recently, you think you 've got the hand worked out but then there's the other 'quieter' player who we often forget about until we are too involved in the pot to fold![]()
His line is a set nearly all the time but sometimes a draw too. At the time it felt was close but getting 3.5-1 I called. If i'd bet a bit more it would have been a much easier call and he might have folded his draw which would have been nice.
He showed down 89
for 2nd pair and OESD.
Turn was a 9, river a Q. I take down the pot.
Messy hand though, I don't really like it.
Sorry if i sound a bit thick but whats OESD?
