Default One of the more annoying bad beats

Just been playing a NL cash game- $0.25/$0.25 blinds.

Get dealt 99 and bit of pre flop action- flop comes 9 6 6.

Player who raised initially bets big so I raise all in- he calls- with A K suited !! I sit back quite happy I've got this hand all wrapped up...

Turn comes a 6. River comes a 6- he wins the pot with four of a kind 6 ace high

Can't say I've ever lost a hand like that before but it sure as hell hurt to do so

You know, I like when people post 'real' results like this. I am always skeptical when people make claims such as, 'I win (or pick wins, depending on the gambling sport) 90% of the time.' Horse Hockey you do! Mathematically and statistically, that'd be impossible, unless you were running your own rigged games. We all know that outside of card counting and other such illegal measures and heck, even with these things, bad hands, bad cards, bad numbers, bad horses, etc are a given in this sport. Even the world's best super-star athelete has a bad day and so do world-class gamblers.

card counting is not illegal as long as youre only using your own brain to do so, however if a casino catches you doing it, they can evict you from the premises

I suffered a similar hand in a tourney game which I posted on here about a year ago. This time I was holding KK and the board came out with four 9s on it and the other guy was holding AQ. Very frustrating, but there you go

I'm not sure you can card count anymore. The cards go into automatic shufflers each time

If I could win 90% of the time, I'd be very happy

Making long term profits from gambling is all about VALUE. If you can manage a strike rate of 40% backing 2/1 shots at level stakes, you are making money in the longterm.

I understand this is the case- I make decent money off horse betting finding VALUE, I know the same prinicipals of VALUE apply to poker in many ways, but I just cannot master making money in the long term from it. But it isn't impossible, as I'm sure a few people manage to make money from poker- but only a few

Yep a bad beat. but sooner or later we are all gonna get stung by hand like this. Had the same in a live game not long back, only my full house was beaten by four kings A kicker
