    Default Tonights Freeroll

Own up all of you that were watching / taking part in tonights freeroll that accused me of sitting out on purpose.

My connection went down when there was 6 left, not 4 and thus not on the bubble. I was second in chips but there was a few stacks only slightly behind me. Why would I sit out when the likes of ratfish and revstu had very few chips and looked to be heading out anyway? Do you not think I'd rather sit in and take these easy pickings?

I am quoting a well respected member of this forum who shall remain nameless... 'its not good etiquette, even when its people you dont know at all, but when its a friendly forum game its worse'

I agree with this. Do you think $75/45/30 means that much to me that I am going to sit out during a freeroll?? LMFAO! I lose hundreds of dollars on one hand on the cash tables and yet I get accused of sitting out during a meaningless freeroll to gain an extra few bucks.

I understand that fish such as revstu need the 30 notes to fund them on the $3 Stts that they constantly fish in, after all, this will just about double their entire bankroll. So fuck you all that thought I was trying to be crafty and sit out.

Thinking back, I actually remember someone sitting out not too long ago in a forum and jumping back in with aces, the name escapes me.

Anyway, bring on the value added tourneys and weed these blood sucking fish out and let's have a proper game between the few that actually know what they are doing.

p.s Thanks to kidgloves, who said some kind words just as I got back to the table. Obviously he has some sense.

Sometimes you cant help sitting out due to connections and stuff.

I dont believe you take the freeroll seriously enough to be honest Thor to care about a few dollars. I know for a few of us the extra $$$'s mean nothing however to others its an entire double up of the bankroll (Diceman).

Best thing to do is to ignore it mate. Dont let it get to you the whole freeroll thing is a total laugh and there is no need to take it seriously like others.

Anyway roll on the $10 added value tourneys and lets get some people depositing money and playing the 'proper' players!! Who knows we may even get them on a cash table staking more than $10!!!! WOOOHOOO

When the game was down to four, with thor sitting out (disconnected) it was being discussed how to blind him out, taking it in turns to grab his big blind. That is out of order.

I knew someone would cry about this.
One of the players mentioned this tactic and it was agreed by all, including me.
I know something of Chris and his character and my view on it was that I'd go along to see if he'd jump back in when he saw what was happening. At this point nobody had mentioned connection problems. I believe this approach happened for all of 1 hand, after which there was a break and I personally opted out of the approach in the chat box, the other players followed suit.
As people have mentioned, this is a freeroll and is taken far too seriously by some. Yes it must have been very annoying to have tech problems whilst being in a strong chip position, but if you are not at the table, then others aren't going to wait for you.
I'm sure we've all blinded out a silent player in our time, for much more than this.
The reason it hardly went anywhere is as I said above, it counts for something if you know a player a little better than just a display name.

Confucius also say "man who know Kebab has 60 inch waist"
Confucius finally add "man may deal, but man may not 'know' deal"

There's nothing wrong with stealing the blind of a player who is sat out for any reason... Common sense dictates that you should steal it. It would happen if the player was away from the table in a live game, so why should it not happen online?

If there were genuine connection problems that's fine, happens to us all sometimes. Hell, it happened to me in last night's game, difference was it happened to me when I'd just called an all-in with two players still to play - if one of them had re-raised I'd have lost 800 chips, luckily they folded and apparently my 8s held up because I had more chips when I came back. (Ironically, when I returned a few minutes later having had to reboot my PC, waltypies was accusing me of sitting out on purpose.)

The timing was suspicious last night - player disappears when he's just got himself into a comfortable position as the game's getting close to the cash places, then comes back just in time to play his big blind after the break - which was why I raised the matter, and everyone else agreed. Sitting out on purpose is a pretty despicable way to play a friendly game. I'm happy to accept that it was just an unfortunate coincidence, but I don't believe there's anything wrong in principle with blinding out a player who's not at the table when you're on the bubble. The players who are left have no way of knowing if somebody's trying to pull a fast one or not, especially if circumstances make it look that way, and at that point in the game people have a right to protect their chance of cashing.

I'm not going to rise to the embarrassing personal attack. Anyone who's ever played poker with me will find the accusation of me being a "fish" pretty hilarious.

(And it wasn't me who was doing all-ins of 3,000 to win pots of 200 chips... )

I'm a little confused why Thor would be so upset, when he's not interested in the piffling amounts of money.

I'm just glad that he was able to reconnect just in time for his bb after the break though.
